Checking out the Civic

After work I walked to the Honda dealer in town. I passed this theatre.

I wanted to sit in a Honda Civic. The hybrid was out on a test drive so I tested a 'normal' Civic. It looked a LOT better on the inside than the Prius but there was only a little bit more room for my legs. Our current Hyundai is still lots roomier. So we don't know now. I think I'll do more research but I think we're out of hybrid options...

No hybrid? Then I guess you'll have to buy a ute. Great for carrying all the tools and IKEA stuff...

Or try the Toyota Corolla! That's what I drive. And I think we're same height and size.

It gets almost 40 miles to the gallon yet costs, well here anyway, $6000 less than a hybrid.

So that kind of savings upfront with great gas mileage makes up for the hybrid hype. The mileage isn't that much better and yet it costs a whole helluva lot more.

So I think it evens out at the end. Plus Toyota's keep their value and last forever.

Doesn't Nic's sister have one.....try hers for comfort.

@ Kees: The only people making Utes are Holden and Ford and I'm not buying those brands. I make one exception though for a Ford Mustang.

@ Craig: I'm 6'4" (193cm) tall. How tall are you? I actually tried a Corolla in the shop but that wasn't too roomy for me.

Believe it or not but I am actually looking at a Mercedes A-class. The cheapest model is only $100 more than we would have to pay for the Prius and the diesel version uses 5.2 litres on 100km which surprised me greatly! Now I only have to fit and.... convince Nicole.

Also have a look at the Toyota Camry hybrid; it's bigger than the Prius.

There are quite a number of hybrids on the market; check out the list.

@ Kees: Most of those hybrids are too expensive (Mercedes S-class?) or they are not available in Australia. The hybrid Camry is planned for 2010 but it is still a very big car and eventhough it's a hybrid it will use more fuel than a small diesel like the VW Golf.
