Finding Dory

Saturday is baseball day so we went to see Milan play.  Some kids in the opposing team need to see a shrink. They went ballastic when things were going bad for them. Kinda sad.

In the afternoon Simone and I went shopping. I sat on a bench waiting for Simone and for some reason I was really enjoying sitting there watching people. It felt good.

In the evening the four of us went to see the movie "Finding Dory". It was fun :-)

Kings day 2016

Today we celebrated Kings day here. It's the King's birthday. It used to be Queensday and I find it hard getting used to "Kings day". But anyway.... Milan and I cycled to a nearby village and went to the fun fair. Which was really small and a not too exciting. Milan went in the bumper cars which was about the funnest we did.

Later, when Simone got back from work all four of us went to the movies to see the new Jungle book movie. It was OK. I guess I'm not really into real animals talking like humans...

The Dutch movie

Some days I walk the stair to my office. It's just 17 floors, no biggie ;-)

I start to breathe heavier after the 7th floor. By the time I reach the 17th floor I'm just about fed up with the exercise so that's good.

In the evening I met Gerrit to go see a movie. It was a very nice movie. Not a big international blockbuster but one made in Holland, with Dutch actors doing a Dutch story. The crowd was small and civilised. Nice.

It was at the Tuschinski cinema which is known for it's stunning architecture.

The street where the cinema is, has changed a fair bit over the last couple of years but not to its advantage unfortunately. Normal shops are replaced with more tourist traps. Souvenirs and nutella everywhere. It's bad.

Afterwards we had a lovely pint of the black stuff.

"Spectre"

Work took me out to the new 007 movie "Spectre". It was great, I enjoyed it very much!

Straight outta Compton

I still had a movie voucher for 1 movie + soft drink + popcorn from my last birthday. Thankfully I checked 2 weeks ago and found out it had to be used before september 12th. Due to busy schedules I couldn't go with Simone and went by myself, which was a first for me. It did however present me with the opportunity to see exactly what ~I~ wanted to see :-)

So after work, I went to the cinema to see the movie "Straight outta Compton" about the rise and fall of the band N.W.A. Since it was 17:30 there was hardly anybody except for people who really wanted to see the movie. No screaming kids playing with their cells etc. Lovely!

I think not even 20 out of 360 seats were filled! The movie was great btw. And it played for about 2.5 hours. I definitely recommend seeing it if you're into hiphop/rap and/or music history!

The building at the end of my street is more or less finished. It looks nice.

Mission: Impossible x 2

Basically today is all about finding a new car for Simone. Her little Corsa died on her last Thursday, one of the camshafts broke and I believe that also the cylinderhead cracked, lovely. Too expensive to fix on a 10 year old car so we've been seeing a few garages in the morning before going to see Milan play his Saturday baseball game.

After the game we got another tip on a good car so we went to another garage, an Opel dealer.

I'd have loved to buy this Manta but it's actually more expensive than the one Simone bought, not to mention more expensive to use. Lovely car though.

Simone signed for this 2009 Corsa. Great looking car with cruise control, airconditioning with climate control, 5 doors and a towing hook. I'm looking forward to driving it :-)

It had been a tiring day. It wasn't easy finding a new car in 1 day, almost an impossible mission...
In the evening we wanted to do something fun to end the day with so the four of us went to see the new "Mission: Impossible" movie, how fitting ;-)
I liked it a lot.

Terminator Genisys

After work I met Mic at Mulligans.

We had dinner at James' gate. I had fish and chips. It was OK.

We finished dinner early so we went for a walk to the fountain.

Tonight's main event was the movie Terminator GENISYS. I liked it very much!

The movie

Because Simone injured her back quite bad again, I helped distributing Larissa's papers. I like my new bike very much. It's a nice ride :-)

Saw lots of these...

Since it was the last day of the school holiday and wanted to do something nice, we went to the movies. Pathe Zaandam has this awesome golden toilet.

We saw "Michiel de Ruyter". A movie about Holland's most famous naval Admiral. In his days he whooped Brittish and French ass quite hard...

The meet and greet

Ferry photo du jour. I actually quite like this photo.

I went outside for a walk with my colleague and friend Tanja. We walked to a car-parts dealer but they didn't have what I was looking for. Meanwhile it had started pissing down. Just great...
Tanje spotted this snail. It looked pretty.

In the evening I went to a Dutch movie called "Pijnstillers" (Painkillers) with Simone, Milan, Larissa and a friend of hers.

Straight after the movie some of the cast members rocked up and answered some questions from the crowd.

These are the two main characters. It is marketed as a teenage movie but I quite enjoyed it myself as well.

Then there was a meet and greet where you could have your photo taken with some cast members. People rushed out to get there.

Waiting in line...

Yes, yes. It was a fun evening! :-)

The fire

(Not my own picture)
There was a fire in Alkmaar last night... A big one.

(Not my own picture)
My cousin's antique shop burned right down to the ground and took a few other businesses with it :-(

In the evening I met Simone and we went to see a Dutch movie called "Soof". It's labelled as "chick flick" but I think men can laugh just as much. It's a very funny movie.

The EYE

SCORE! I guess I have 3 movies to watch this winter :-)

Gerrit and I went to see a movie at the EYE film museum. First we had dinner there which was very enjoyable! Great food in a great place. Loads of little lights everywhere, great view over the water towards Central Station. The customer-base dresses very nice which is nice. All age groups etc. Very civilised place ;-)

The movie we saw was the new Coen Brothers movie.

I liked it but have seen better movies coming from them.

The EYE restaurant where we had a few beers after.

I also received some more Christmas cards today, nice :-)

The Big Lebowski

In my neighbourhood there is this place where people in psychological need can get some help, or treatment if you want to call it that way. It's not a mental hospital but a place where you go see your shrink. It's a bit funny that they put art on the front that immediately makes you think of somebody jumping off a building. Personally I think it's stupid...

However, on the building I saw this explanation. Sure, it makes sense, but I still think it's stupid.

In the evening I watched The Big Lebowski. This is one scene that makes me laugh so much :-)

The angels' share

I finally got around to cleaning my kitchen. It's sparkling again :-)

Marjolein and I went to see the movie "The angels' share" and enjoyed it very much. It's funny and just a nice little story. And it's about whisky ;-)

Marjolein showing her new earring. I like them very much! Can't see it really well but they're actually quite delicate leaves.

She b(r)ought me a pressie from belgium: A little water can to pour a tiny bit of water in whisky. We've been looking for one in Scotland during the holiday but couldn't find it anywhere. Now I have one :-)
