Scotland, day 4: Harris.

Leaving Glasgow today, heading for Harris via Uig. Harris is actually the southern half of the island of Harris & Lewis. You get there by taking the bus from Glasgow to Uig (isle of Skye) and then taking the ferry to Tarbert (Harris).

We had a short break before we entered Skye over the big Skye-bridge.

Marjolein pointing across the water.

On the ferry I had a delicious beef pie!

View from the ferry. It rained a little.

But sometimes the sun came through and illuminated the water underneath.

So, as to clarify where the hell we were going today, I made you a little map! Our first b&b was in Leverburgh. We had to take the bus down from Tarbert, where we arrived by ferry from Uig.

When we arrived at our b&b we were greeted by a pair of Golden eagles (Dutch: steenarend). Stunning birds the size of a door! hearing them scream was awesome. Never seen them before.

After a wonderful dinner (prepared by Polly whom had been a chef for 10 years and who is the daughter of our host Paula) we set for a little walk on which I was first introduced to the midges. More on those pesky beasts in later blog posts I'm sure!

Cloud covered mountain tops.

The island is covered in heather. You'll see it where ever you look.

Sunset.

View.

Another view.

Sheep are also a bit like heather. They're just every where!
