I saw a ball fly past... I think.

This is where Amsterdam rubbish is turned in to steam, clean steam. Website. Every bit of waste gets turned in to something useful. The heat is used to produce energy. Metals etc. get preserved, harmful stuff gets picked out and stuff that doesn't really burn gets turned in to asphalt. There is only steam coming out of those chimneys.

I went to Alkmaar to investigate what is involved in making a new shower. This is a shower drain that I just adore. It's gonna be my saviour for this project I think.

Then I went to the DIY store where I worked for 7 years during my studies to look for a shower cabin. A nice one is expensive! Anyway, I worked this isle 7 years.

I worked this isle for 7 years too. Basically I worked the whole back of the shop: Wood, gardening, doors, roofing, tiles and plumbing.

I used my dad's bike to get around. I hadn't cycled for a while, it felt funny. It was nice to ride through the park again.

My parents' back garden.

I played tennis with Ilse and Cassie in the afternoon. It was quite warm (not as hot as in Adelaide but still...). A good effort was put in by all, which is commendable.

My and Ilse.

Me and Cassie. Who absolutely wiped the floor with me (she was a child-tennis-star and obviously still has the touch). Why is it that such a little person can ace me and all my balls hit the net? Hmmm....

On the way back in the train. I was tired and had stuff on my mind.

The card

Waiting for my tram to leave on my way home.

In the evening I went to Mulligans.

It was Freddy's farewell party, we all signed a card.

6 scoops!

Spotted on my way to work.

The ice cream van visited again today so we went out of course. My colleague Bjorn showing the world his gigantic 6 scoops ice cream with free waffle. 6 scoops is a LOT. I think Bjorn would agree ;-)

Saw the swan family on my way home. They have 5 little ones looking very fluffy and cute.

After work I went in to town to meet Nicole for dinner. I stopped by a shop that sells every metal part you can put on a house imaginable. I needed a door knob. It's a fantastic shop.

People getting ready for The Netherlands playing soccer tonight.

Ferry-life.

Bicycles on the morning ferry.

Ice cream while waiting for my ferry. It was very warm today.

A ducky came to say hello. Or maybe it didn't care about me and just needed a wash, I dunno.

The high speed ferry flew past. It's a wing-boat.

And then we passed a slow boat pushing something empty.

It was very busy on the ferry. More people take the bicycle with this weather.

I put one of my IKEA things together. I have to say it's surprisingly sturdy. Even without mounting it to the wall.

Fine dining.

Works in Amsterdam takes ages. They can never finish something quickly here. These tram tracks have been opened up like this for a few weeks now, just waiting for the next phase to start. In the meantime it's a big slowdown for traffic. Very annoying.

Croissants!

With the iPhone OS update yesterday came the ability to zoom in. It's a crane!

My lunch.

After work Ilse and Cassie picked me up to go to Ikea. First we had lunch at Mc D.

And desert at Ikea hee hee hee.

I need a new shower...

I worked from home today because I felt like shit after a very bad night of sleep. I had a small lunch break outside.

I noticed spots on one of the walls becoming larger and more yellow...

I had a small idea what was causing this and so I had a look.

Jackpot! Wood rotting everywhere. I could poke right through. The wall is made of those big white building blocks, loves water like a sponge. Hence the spots on the other side of the wall...

So now I'm looking at replacing my shower. At least I get to pick a nice new one.

And finally I cooked again. Cantonese chicken is what this is supposed to be. It was my first bit of cookery in my new place and it was successful. I made a lot. Enough for dinner AND 3 lunches :-)

Sick of being sick.

This is how I feel. I'm still not well but I really wanna go to work tomorrow. I'm just sick of being sick.
