The ZZTop key-hanger

My key-hanger finally reached it's destination. 20 years after I went to see ZZTop in concert and bought it :-)

And just as I wanted to go to bed around 1:30 AM I heard a funny water sound. A piece of drain pipe cracked and my upstairs neighbour's teeth brushing was causing a nice little waterfall in my bathroom. After I talked to her I decided to open up my ceiling to see what had happened. Always nice to do some DIY in the middle of the night...

Budapest day 6

Two beautiful girls...

and ice cream...

In stunningly beautiful New York Cafe in Budapest.

Because we were flying early evening we had a big lunch. This is caramelized carrot soup. I don't ever want to forget what it tasted like. It was fantastic!

Budapest day 5

Today we took a boat trip up the Danube to Margaret island. Saw a lot of cool buildings from the water. Like this one.

And this one.

And this one.

Another tram.

Very nice!

On Margaret island we didn't walk much due to the heat. It was just too much. We sat at the fountain for a while after we had lunch.

I have no idea what this building is but it looks awesome!

Hot.

We had dinner at one of the most touristy terraces around. Great views but weird and overpriced menu.

Eva.

It's that building again!

We were joined by Veronika, Eva's friend who's apartment we were using. She showed us where real Budapest people go out. Got to bed around 2:30. Nice :-)

Budapest day 4

Today it was time to hit the pool! It was hot outside. Thing was that so was the pool. It was a spa... Still nice though :-)

View to the left of me...

View to the right of me.

We took the metro back in to town.

The metro runs deep!

I got only a tiny bit (cough) sunburned ;-)

Budapest day 3

Leaving the house an old Trabant (I think...) rocked up in front of us. Sturdy car.

We went to see Heroes square. Here's 2 heroes for you ;-)

The statue is kinda big. So is the square.

This was my favourite piece. I want a horse with shit on his head like that too now... And a helmet like the dude riding it. I guess I could mount a bull-bar on my Mustang...

Then we walked in to the park and the castle grounds where we spotted this statue of the unknown writer. Apparently there was this guy ages ago who wrote a lot about ehm... a lot. But it's in a funny language and nobody knows who this guy was...

Then we took the bus up the hill in Buda again because this time we wanted to walk down.

Nice view of this bridge.

The reason we wanted to walk down was this little waterfall. It turned out nice but nothing spectacular really. Let's hang on that fence and be cool for a photo...

We also wanted to walk over one of the bridges. Nice views again.

Tram was still there... I like their trams. Funny enough they are being replaced by the same shite trams we now have in Amsterdam. The Siemens Combino. Pieces of shit they are...

And then we sat down and ate ice cream. Awesome ice cream. And I bought someone chocolates. With marzipan inside.

Budapest day 2

Today we went to Buda which is on the other side of the Danube from where our house is. The bus took us up on the hill from which we had a great view.

Someone is blocking the view here...

Town.

Town.

Two very old bridges. I believe the one connecting Margaret island in the back was build by Eiffel (if I understood the tape on the boat there correctly...).

Town.

Then we took the bus to another hill top in Buda. There was a church with a pretty roof.

Castle wall in Buda.

Great photo of Eva.

Yours faithfully.

View towards the hill top we were before. On the right you can just see a very tall statue. That's where the earlier photos were made today.

Walking back in to town (Pest) we spotted this statue. Love it :-)

And then it was time for goulash and red wine. Good times :-)

Budapest day 1

The courtyard of our apartment building. On the morning of the very first day Eva and I managed to lock ourselves out while looking around from the balcony. The draft shut the front door on us. PANIC! Thank god the window was fucked and Eva managed to squeeze her hand through and open the door from the inside....

And then we started exploring Budapest. Those people love to put coloured tiles on the roofs of their buildings. Nice! This is a train station.

The Danube. The water was brown instead of blue. But it was also 2-3 metres lower than a few weeks ago so that was great!

Look, I'm smiling ;-) You can click this photo for a bigger version and my smile will be bigger!

They got trams there, too.

And mojitos.

And sun. Lots of it!

Eva doing girly-shopping.

Eva with 2 big dogs.

Impressive building.

Nice hungarian beer.
