Removing the thermostat-housing / The beer

I try to work on my 'stang at least once every 2 weeks. It's difficult finding time. Today I wanted to replace, or at least start replacing, the thermostat. Also I cleaned the insides of the front fenders that the hood lies on when closed and I put in new rubber hood bumpers. If you knbow where to look it makes a BIG difference ;-)

I had to take out a lot of the coolant before working my way to the thermostat. I did this by siphoning from the radiator.

When most of the coolant was out I disconnected the top radiator hose. It got really messy and I had to go home to get a vacuum cleaner because I didn't want all the crap to end up in my cooling system.

There it is, the old thermostat-housing, all cleaned up. It still needs to go though!

And what I was afraid of did happen. The bolts snaped off. I was able to remove the housing but I'm now stuck with 2 bolts I will have to drill out... Not too pleased about that but also not too surprised to be honest. I left the ols gasket and thermostat inthere for the time being. I need to make a plan about getting them bolts out first now.

The new and the old thermostat housing.

In the evening I drank the beer I got from my folks a while ago. It was very, very nice! It was refreshing and slightly flavoured with something I can't quite get my finger on.

The trophy

Next week I'm organising my work's annual squash tournament. There are 50 people coming. This morning I got the trophy back so I can polish it and hand it out again next week. It's gonna be fun :-)

I received a packet with rubber parts for my Mustang. More holes will be closed and the car will improve :-)

The jack stands

Lidl advertised with jack stands. I still need 2 pair. So I went to Lidl and bought 2 pair for 26 euros total. You cannot, ever, blame me for doing so :-) Next winter I can put my car up on them.

Back at my ranch my little oak tree is really starting to look like a tree with several new branches now. Awesome!

The pizzas

Simone wanted to paint the hallway on the first floor. This turned into painting + removing and re-routing electrical wiring + filling over a dozen holes. I wasn't thrilled about doing this today but I gotta say that in the end, it does look pretty good and we got a lot done.

I didn't want to spend all day on DIY so I watched another episode of Wheeler dealers on Discovery. I like that show a lot because they actually show you how to do things. And this episode they worked on a DeLorean which is the car from the "Back to the future" movies. Great car, lovely show again.

And after all that work we made pizzas in the evening. They were very nice but next time we must make flatter dough...

The "cat hill" (kattenberg)

Happy easter... When we drove off to Simone's family for easter brunch, somebody in our neighbourhood had to leave their car in the middle of the street coz it caught fire. Not cool, scary shit.
The firies just arrived when we were passing.

Before meeting with Simone's family we decorated one of her friends' house because that friend turned 40 and skipped away for the weekend to escape any 40th birthday activities.

After a very nice brunch organised by Simone's sister Danielle and her boyfriend Erik we went for a little walk before meeting with my family.

We went to Heiloo and visited the kattenberg, "cat hill" in English. They think it was created by sand that was dug up to make ponds for the nearby mansion around 1707.

After this lovely walk we visited my family and we had a lovely time over a lovely dinner.

It was a busy (and noisy) day but very well spent!
