Happy New Year!

We didn't have much for breakfast in the house so we went in to town for breakfast. We went to Scoozi's to be exact. And what a great breakfast we had. Not too much, but sooooo damn tasty. Great start of the last day of this year.

This was our view: Rundle Street.

We looked for shoes but couldn't quite find what we wanted.

Well known Belgian beer available here.

And then we went to the beach.

Nicole doing the 'vogeltjes dans'.

The water was refreshing but not cold enough. A few kilometres away a 4 metre great white was swimming we later read on the news.

Gull walking to the left...

Gull walking to the right. The beach can be thrilling.

The little steam train was riding as well.

Around 21:00 we drove down to the big park in town for some New Years eve festivities. There was a stage with bands playing on it, there were some food stalls and plenty of toilets.

Because we had skipped dinner we first went to the guzleme stand. Guzleme is a delicious Turkish dish. It's kinda like pizza dough, folded, with spinach, feta cheese and lambs meat inside. Hmmmm.

Like I said before, bands were playing on stage.

The fountain was changing colour all the time.

And at midnight sharp the fire works started. Pretty nice fireworks too, for 15 minutes.

Mic called me to say happy new year but we couldn't really hear each other very well. We'll catch up tomorrow.

The fireworks were lit from a bridge. At some point it looked like the whole bridge was on fire.

Boom.

Train - food - birds - flowers - train

After a second visit to Bunnings this morning to get new threaded steel rods (the first ones SUCKED) I drove us to Semaphore.

On the way we saw a gigantic ship being guided into the harbour and we stopped to have a look.

When we arrived at Semaphore we saw that the little steam train was operating well out of season. As we figured this must be especially for us we hopped on for a ride to the fort and back.

It drives along the beach.

At the end stop the locomotive has to turn around.

It's little but quite fast on it's own.

It's zooms past us...

... and it hooks up at the other end to pull us all the way back again.

There is a station but I wonder if anybody ever gets on or off here...

Back at Semaphore the same procedure is performed. Turning is done by hand.

The locomotive is called Bill. I wonder if the guy driving the loco is called "Ted"...

The anchor statue at Semaphore.

The seagulls at Semaphore.

Nicole at Semaphore.

When we came home I needed the big camera to take pictures for my other blog and I took a few snappies in the garden. Here's Ms. pigeon.

A little pink rose.

The same mandarins I posted yesterday or the day before but now photographed by a 'real' camera.

A big rose that Nicole featured on her blog recently.

Mr. Pigeon? You can never really tell...

Nicole made a delicious cottage pie tonight. Yuuuumm!

Most of my weekend was spent on making this: A model railroad spiral. It's a test before I start on the real thing. My trains (except a very little one) have no problems driving up this 3.8% incline so the test is very successful.

Bill

Today my second World of Warcraft T-shirt arrived. It was sent from the USA. I'm surprised it got here this fast: 1 week only!

I bought it using my Amazon.com voucher my colleagues gave me when I left. Thanks guys!

We went to Semaphore in the afternoon where we spotted this car and it's plate. It belonged to a shop.

We had lunch in a place called "whipped". Good stuff!

Then we walked towards the jetty because they were operating a little steam tram. Had to see it of course.

But it wasn't there yet so we walked on the jetty a bit.

It needs paint.

After a while the tram arrived. It was actually build in 1992 so you can consider it very "new".

It's manufactured by a company called "Willis" in Perth.

This is the complete tram. The track is only 2km.
