The Germans!

Walking in to town I spotted this awesome... thing! I think it was real!

I watched Germany kick Argentina's ass in Mulligans. Great game. Well deserved win for the Mannschaft!

The two guys at the table were German. And did we know it. The one in the shirt was very vocal, it was hilarious at times. When the off-side Argentinian goal was made he voiced the loudest SCHEEEEEEIIIIISSEEEEEEE I have ever heard in my entire live. I think everybody was in shock for 3 seconds after... (Also in this photo: Alie Beck - who had an orange coat with her)

Holland - Brasil : 2 - 1.

The Netherlands were bathing in sun today. And it was orange because our soccer team played Brasil!

I saw this old DAF truck on my way home.

Waiting for the ferry - I had to stand in the shade, it was too hot in the sun.

I left work 2 hours early so I could watch the soccer match in Mulligans.

The Dutch team did well and knocked Brasil out of the world cup. People were cheering and partying everywhere in town.

Everywhere.

After the soccer I went out for dinner with Nic, Kees and our American pilot-friend Jud. We ate Indian and it was very nice!

The we went back and sat on the Mulligans terrace which was surprisingly nice.

I walked home after midnight. The Amsterdam canals looked lovely and it was still warm.

The thirsty dogg.

I went to Mulligans after work but there wasn't much going on so I left.

I thought I'd check out the Thirsty Dogg a.k.a. Chico's bar.

And there it is.

The thirsty dogg hehe. It's actually Chico's doggy.

Saw this on the way home, love it.

Working far away.

I left the house at 6:30 to go visit colleagues for a meeting but their office is up shit creek... The train ride was lovely and quiet though. I saw deer and bunnies :-)

After traveling for 130 minutes I got at my destination station: Hoogeveen.

It was nice to see one of our other offices though. This was my view. It was very quiet there.

During lunch I went for a walk with two colleagues. It was warm and I got very sweaty :-/

They keyboard I was using was dirty.

The office looked shabby. It needs paint badly.

My work place.

Every room has airconditioners but none of them work and they're not gonna work either. That's just a crock of shit you know. They should work, it gets hot there!

On my way back I noticed how train information has been modernized a fair bit while i was out of the country. Very good.

I went to Nic's (= Jon's) place straight after work to join them for the Wednesday night dinner. It was a lovely out and the Mexican food she made tasted great. From left to right: Jon, George, Stephen, Daniel, Petra, Paddy, Nicole and Anna.

After glugging down a bottle of rose I went upstairs for a coffee and more chatting.

It's Nantko!

On my way to work one of the harbour boats was making a fountain. I don't know what for though...

Coffee. I had 2 today. I mix 1 espresso and 1 regular. No milk, no sugar.

In the evening I visited Nantko at the hospital. He was looking a fair bit better and he said he had gained weight. The abscess has almost halved in size which is very good. Lets hope tomorrow brings more good news.

The turd-catcher.

On the way to work. I like how the water-side apartments look.

My colleagues sea-monkeys were having a very reproductive day. They shagged all day long. That's apparently how they do it... And... the female does not really require a male, she can also fertilize the eggs herself. I guess using a male helps with natural selection etc...

Holland played Slovakia in the Soccer world cup at 4PM. Work? Nah.

It's already bad enough if guys wear saggy pants like this but on girls it's even worse. These type of pants are called "turd catchers" in Dutch by the way...

Due to a de-railed tram I had to wait about 40 minutes until one came. I drove to Mic to help him getting a sun-screen off the wall.

First we got the ladder from his parents.

Never ask Mic to look normal...

The old photo

I went in to town with Nic early afternoon. I needed a friend. The city looked awesome in the sun.

(Click to enlarge) Late arvo I went to an exhibition of old photos of Amsterdam with Kate from Mulligans. In this photo you actually see Mulligans in the late 1800's I believe.

We discovered a gigantic vault. Kate thought she could faff around with the doors. Bring on the painkillers me thinks ;-)
