The river

We woke up early today (6am) to drive off to the river to visit a family friend.

Some of the views at this time are quite beautiful.

The roads were empty.

We stopped in Mannum along the way.

We could already see the river through the trees.

Our friend, Jo, lives -at- the river. It was lovely and quiet when we arrived.

Tony was quick getting out his fishing gear.

Jo (actually Josip) got a haircut from Vicky.

Here's the gang of four from left to right: Josip Jr, Vincent, Marko and Drago.

During the day we saw many boats pass us by (in between waving the flies away).

Because of the drought the river is about a metre lower than usual. It's a seriously sad state actually.

There were also a lot of speed boats pulling people on all kinds of floatation devices.

View along the jetties.

Schutzenfest 2008.

I walked Mason by myself this morning. We did a pretty big round (1 hour ~ 3km) and without knowing where the hell I was going I ended up at that cactus again. It's flowers had opened but they only flower a couple of days. The floor was full of flowers that had dropped.

Mason was exploring new pastures...

Late morning we drove over to Drago's place. Here we see Marko and Drago.

This is Josip next to Nicole.

We had a very nice time and it was very nice to see them all.

After visiting Drago and his boys we went to the Schutzenfest in town. This is a festival organised by the German community in Adelaide.

The police marching band was there.

They escorted people carrying the flags of all german states.

The carnavaldudes were also present.

Nicole felt right at home of course ;-)

It's mainly eating...

and lots of drinking.

It was all happening here...

Luckily I found out where it was really happening!

There was also a "cultural" section. On display were for example German stamps. (Yes dad, STAMPS)

Opposite the festival terrain is the Adelaide Coca Cola factory.

The windows are very much dimmed but we managed to make photo's anyway ;-P

When we came home I got a little parcel from Daniel, one of my "magic" friends. He was kind enough to send me a little promotional gift of a new card game. This is available from BOOSTERDRAFT.NL. ;-)
