Remembering

I made a nice breakfast again. Croissants with old cheese, ham/cheese toasties, fresh OJ, skim milk and the weekend paper. Good stuff!

I had dinner with Marjolein at Wagamama.

After dinner we went to Dam square for the WWII remembrance.

There was a very cute military police chick. behind her the brand new King and Queen and our prime minister are walking past.

At 8PM there was a 2 minute silence.

The Talisker Two

I walked around during lunch.

I also sat in the sun during lunch.

On my way home to the ferry I saw the new Nile geese-family again.

Carlos and Lindsay were playing in front of Central Station. I run in to these guys in Amsterdam and in Adelaide ;-)

I cooked dinner for Marjolein and myself and later we met up with Gerrit in the pub. The Talisker Two were playing.

The movie

I went to see the movie "Olympus has fallen" with about 80 colleagues. It was entertaining but very patriotic...

I had an early appointment in Hilversum.

In the evening I went to play squash with mic. he was proudly showing me his make-shift fence. I do like it :-)

Meet the new King!

Today is the last queensday. Because today The Netherlands gets a King! It's a big thing over here...

I wanted to make pictures of this so I went early. By god, I was just in time!

Crowds had started gathering early.

At 10:30 sharp the new King Willem Alexander, Queen Maxima and the now Princess Beatrix came on the balcony. Here they're singing the national anthem.

Later Beatrix left and their daughters came on.

I slept for a few hours in the afternoon and later went out to meet Ruud and Laurien for a few beers.

The Variomatic

I went for a walk during lunch. Get some air. The weather totally cleared up.

An old DAF car was parked here for some reason.

It's a "Variomatic".

Nice. Built in '58.

My coffee had shades on.

The Queen came on TV to give her final speech before she steps down tomorrow.

I watched Rocky IV in the evening.

The quick drive

I started my day very rough. It's very difficult for me to get to grips with this sudden break-up I'm finding myself in. Really thought I hit the jackpot and never saw any clues it would go down this way. It's a fuckin' shocker and I'm devastated...

Late arvo I met Jan and Susanne. Suus stayed at Nic's shop and Jan and I went to have a look at my car. Here is me driving it out of the garage.

Even my car cried...

 

 We drove to a gas station and I filled her up. This is half a tank. EEK! ;-)

I let Jan drive on the way back. He enjoyed it I think, resulting in the video below ;-)
