41

I needed to do more shopping, beer as well. And I found a crate of Heineken with the superduper funky opener inside :-)

Also I needed to bake one more cake. It was the apple pie. And a very nice one it was indeed!

I got a lot of people over for my birthday today which was really, really nice! My house was nearly too small for all of them to fit. Early evening only Mic, Mickey, Noortje, Marjolein, Simone and Larissa were left.

This year's pressie-theme seemed to be "whisky and cars". Whisky because of all the booze I got and cars because most other pressies involved donations towards my little pony. I guess I better don't mix these two up ;-) I'm especially pleased with the little book on '76-ers coz it belonged to Simone's late father... I'll treat it well and I feel inspired to now collect other years as well.
I also got a photo of Simone, me and the kids which I like very much but for privacy reasons won't show here.

The "funniest present" award this year goes to Tanja and Patrick who gave me a puzzle of our new Dutch King and Queen. I will indeed finish this at some point and hang it up at work I think ;-)

I had a great birthday with all my family, in-laws, girlfriend and friends. Thanks guys!

Bye bye 40

My ferry in the morning was called "Jumbo" but it's the smallest ferry around.

I still like my shades a lot. Today is my last day being 40. Starting my 41st year tomorrow. I still feel under 30. I probably still act like even younger hahaha :-P

Ferry-view on the way home.

Lycra used well!

Nearly every time when I walk to the ferry after work, these groups of mainly girls are exercising on the field I need to cross. They all wear lycra and all of them are fit as... Need I say more?!
It's impossible for any guy to not look at them.

The check-up

The plumber came by for a boiler checkup. Therefore I worked from home today which was very lonely and boring.

In the evening I met Simone at Milan's baseball try-out. He was a star! First time as a batsman and he hit 4 out of 5 straight in to the field! This one actually landed on the pitcher's shin I believe ;-)

I did do things

Again no pics. But today was Monday and work was insanely frustrating coz I was trying to find a bug in my software that was driving me nuts and when I left I still hadn't found it...

In the evening I went to my mother in law with Simone and the kids to have dinner for her birthday. I had a lovely evening!

The Elbe

I woke up around 6AM on top of my deflated air mattress. I didn't want to wake up but I was uncomfortable and I needed to visit the loo so I got up at 6:30. Yay... Not. Anyhow, I also had a shower which was nice and I enjoyed the silence at the camping very much. When I got back to my tent around 7AM I found Paul and Nancy awake and we walked to the banks of the river Elbe where we sat and chatted a bit. It was very quiet and very foggy. It was just us, the birds and the cows. Oh, and a dog.

When we got back there was fresh coffee which tasted excellent-o! Jan and Susanne had woken up as well.

Paul and Nancy's tent :-)

Around 9:30 breakfast (buffet) was served. Very nice fresh German bread rolls and cakes. Susanne did a great job!

Around noon we went home again. We had lunch along the way. I had a very nice Jager schitzel.

Paul and Nancy.

Yours truly.
