The windmill

Simone, her little boy and I went to do shopping for tonight's BBQ but we got distracted by ice cream and by this wind mill. The mill was open and all three of us went in and up, up, up!

We were allowed to go in all the way to the top. Usually this is restricted but the mill was stopped and  we were guided.

This hook is to put the break on. The pin you see in the middle is actually lower then the hook and when it's in the hook the break is on.

It is this very part of the windmill that the Dutch saying "Dat is niet helemaal in de haak" comes from.
("That is not hooked up quite right" meaning that something is not quite right or how it should be.)

Going camping

I bought a little USB fan to use at work. It's sweet!

After work I took a train to meet Simone, her kids and her mom at the camping. I'm gonna stay there for the weekend.

Ramadan has ended and some muslim colleagues of mine take nice sweet treats to work. This one was lovely. Basically it's a little dough ball marinated in honey :-)

Going back in to town where I was meeting Marjolein, Mic and Gerrit, I saw this ship. Nice!

After a few pints we went out for dinner. Everybody wanted to be in the stickies photo...

The bench on the left was gone for a while. I don't remember what for but it was in the news somewhere. About 4 years ago I had a traumatic experience when phoning somebody while sitting on that bench. Those were shitty times, yes.

But right now it's all good and that's what counts :-)

Walking the tight rope (not me!)

Look, it's me! Sittin' in the back of the little ferry :-)

When I left work, I spotted a bloke walking the tight rope.

He fell a few times but never into the water. Climbing back on top and standing up must be harder than the actual walking I reckon.

Going home after work. I was on the little ferry today which was nice.

The dinner

It rained incredibly hard this morning. Later I heard it hadn't rained this hard in 60 years. Good thing I was wearing my el-cheapo flip flops.

I wanted to check on my house in the evening to see if it hadn't been flooded. It had not which made me happy. Then it was time to eat and first I wanted to get us pizza but then I took us out for dinner and it was gooooooooooood!

My folks came over for a wee BBQ. It was a very nice afternoon and evening.
