The farewell lunch (Star Trek High Five!).

Do I look tired? That's because I was fucking tired. And I wanted kwoffee.

Touch down.

We went to the airport at 06:45 to pick up Nicole's parents who were coming back from vacation. This is their Air Malaysia flight touching down. The landing looked very gracious.

Wog fest 2009. Naturally, because I wanted to make a photo of them arriving, some unknown force in the bloody universe decided to plant 3 families in my line of sight.

The in-laws. Tony and Vicky.

This is my international drivers license with which I can drive a car anywhere in the world for a year. I dunno, it could also be a WWII pass of some sort...

Today we had our farewell lunch at Uleybury. Here we see Greg, Gianna and Nicole.

Stephen, Anna and Greg.

Karin and Stephen.

A particularly good photo (if not the nicest ever!) of natalie and Luke (who actually drove two hours to be there!). Thanks so much for coming guys!

STAR TREK HIGH FIVE!

A bit of after chit chat in the parking lot.

We drove home the scenic way, through the Adelaide hills. Everything was still very green. Pretty soon it will be dry and brown again.

We past a hot rod with a dog in it.

While going home we decided to hit the beach. We went to Largs.

Larg's jetty.

Largs beach.

People fishing at the top of the jetty.

A seagull on a pole.

Do I still look tired? That's because I still was bloody tired.

Me! me! me! ME! mE! ME! me! ME!

Lunch at Gianna's

Today we were invited for a lunch with Gianna and her parents. It was great to see them again. The food was fantastic and so was the company. These are just the anti pasti.

Marisa is here!

We picked up Marisa from the airport today.

There was a bit of a protest in town.

We went to the Uleybury winery with Gavin and Marisa.

One of the Pipicella brothers came over to say hello.

And his sister as well. They are nice people.

Later we were surprised by Gianna, Anna and Greg joining us. Anna (Gianna's mom) sits next to Nicole.

Greg and Gianna.

This was my desert. Uleybury now makes their own grape jus that they poor over ice cream. Sensational.

Early evening we drove to Largs bay. Towards the end of prospect road people get very innovative with names.

We can all be kings I guess.

At the beach some people drew sand hearts.

On the jetty people were pretending to be fishing for crabs (crabbing).

The fire

It was just before 2:30 in the night and Nicole and I went to the toilet. Nothing going on outside. While I'm in the loo I hear a bang. It happens. Usually it's the wind banging metal objects against things and what not. We walk back to the flat, didn't notice anything funny. We lie down and Nicole says "I smell smoke, we have to look". So I go outside, see smoke clouds in the sky and look where they're coming from. Big fat orange glow behind the backdoor neighbours house. I hadn't heard any fire alarms yet so I thought I better quickly get my ass over there to check it out. It was the house opposite our backdoor neighbours house (so, same position as ours but one street down). A few people were already standing in the street. The house was empty and apparently got raided by the police a few months ago in a drugs investigation. Five minutes later the fire brigade arrived with two trucks and I went back to try and sleep again.

After a crap night sleep we drove past the house on our way to work. On the news the fire was announced as 'suspicious'. No shit. Nothing going on first. A bang at 2:30 exactly and big flames right after. That was timed arson. Scary.

I spent lunch time at Victoria square. It was nice.

There was a one legged pigeon. It must've been born that way coz there was no remains of a former left leg.

On my way home I caught a pretty full bus. At least I got a seat.

In the evening we visited Gianna and her parents. Gianna must have been happy to see us.

60 years together

Today we had lunch at the Uleybury winery again. We arrived early afternoon.

This time we were here to celebrate Anna and Pasquale's 60th anniversary, Gianna's parents. Also at the scene were Gianna, Greg and Debbie.

We had a great time and the food was excellent. By the time we left it was getting dark.

Winter cake

In the morning I worked on my wheelbarrow a little bit. I shaved an edge off the small panel so it would fit better. I think it starts to look nice.

Yes, my friends. Today winter has started in Australia. Not quite like the winter in The NL!

Nicole made 3 cakes for our cake-date with friends today. This is the torta Barozzi on the right and a baked ricotta cheese cake with raspberries and lavender petals on the left.

The third cake is a poppy-seed cake.

We had a lovely afternoon with (clock-wise) Richard, Debby, Gianna, Nicole and Anna (Gianna's mum). The cakes were fantastic.
