60 years together

Today we had lunch at the Uleybury winery again. We arrived early afternoon.

This time we were here to celebrate Anna and Pasquale's 60th anniversary, Gianna's parents. Also at the scene were Gianna, Greg and Debbie.

We had a great time and the food was excellent. By the time we left it was getting dark.

The piano man

In the morning I walked back and found a very nice and very tasty surprise on my desk: My colleague Luke had bought me my favourite doughnut! Good karma for him and nice caramel for me! :-)

During lunch I went to Dick Smith again. It's probably not good to work so close to this place hehe. I bought chemicals to etch my own print boards. I'm sure you will see the results of that on my blog soon.

After work I met Nicole to do some late night shopping. We thought it would be nice but due to:
A) Shit quality kitchen equipment at Harris Scarfe and
B) Hundreds of very ugly teenagers that looked like they were just pulled out a swamp running around everywhere
it was a crappy experience. Not going shopping in Rundle mall at that time of day anymore...

Fortunately we also walked past this guy who put his piano on a little car and now he was playing it in the mall. It was very nice to see and hear. Judging by the amount of money people had given him we were not the only people who liked him.

Stroopwafels

I forgot to make photo's today so I only got this shot of my desert.

Stroopwafels.

They're imported I believe and thus not the freshest. But they keep very long and when heated in the microwave for 10 sec per waffle they become nice and hot and even a bit crispy again. Worth a try!

Mr. Moped

On my way to work this dude came along side on a wicked moped.

The neighbours across the street had some work going on in front of their door. They were putting in some cable.

During lunch I went to Dick Smith to buy some cable. Mark joined me and afterwards we had lunch at the food court there.

We lunched in style at the Mc. Donalds where the git behind the counter managed to screw up my order of a cheese burger plain. I even told him "JUST the bread, meat and cheese, NOTHING else. For some reason the ketchup made it onto my f-ing burger. Outside Australia I have NEVER had any problems ordering a cheese burger plain but over here it's a different story.
Maybe next time I'l prepare a ingredients list.

Yesterday we got our sign put up finally. We're almost a real company now ;-)

My new career

The city view on my way to work in "Taxi Nicole".

At my work we have a coffee machine. It apparently cost AU$700. For some reason every second time I go there it wants me to do something with it. Fill the water tank, empty the used coffee bin, clean the used coffee bin, add more beans, re-attach the water filter that came loose, clean the internal coffee brew mechanism or sometimes it just cocks up on a stuck bloody coffee bean. I get coffee twice a day so every day there is something of the above that needs doing. Today was BIG clean up time of the internal brewing mechanism. I was lucky to get some actual programming time in today.

At least after today I can add "certified coffee machine mechanic" to my resume :-)

Soup

For lunch I went to the soup nazi again. They had a soup with a funny name. All I remember was that it started with "Mulliga".. and then something weird. No joke! Ah! "Tawny"! It's called "Mulligatawny". And guess what? It was used in the Soup nazi episode of seinfeld. It has curry, lentils, vegetables and chicken meat in it amongst other things I couldn't identify. See also the wikipedia link.

Anyway, I first ordered the soup on the right, a roasted vegetable soup. Then I just asked about the Mulligatawny out of curiosity and they gave me half a cup to try for FREE! How nice is that? May good karma come their way :-)

After work we went to P.J. O'Brien's again for a drink and a bite. I tried the cottage pie and it was very good. So were the fat chips (from REAL potatoes) and Guinness gravy and the garlic bread.

The cockies

In the morning a small flock of Cockatoos came by again to plunder our walnut tree. They can be quite noisy but they are very beautiful birds. Rather big too.

They pick the walnuts, try to open them and if they can't they drop them where ever. The first time they did this we scared ourselves shitless because they mostly drop them on a metal roof of the shed which is VERY loud...

We met Caroline, Stephen and Lachlan for lunch. It was a nice gig :-)

I continued working on my power supply today doing research mostly but I did want to mount the new transformer. Three times I walked passed a tap and die set at Bunnings and decided against buying it. I felt it would be handy at some point but just not at that time. Today was that time I needed them so we drove down when it started to get dark.

Not many people use these I think because they don't seem to sell at all while the quality ain't that bad at all...

I needed a few taps so I could screw my new transformer onto the casing.

It sits nice and tight now.
