The bicycle trip

On the tram to the station, passing Wil Graanstra's chips stand.

At Haarlem station I rented a bicycle.

Marjolein and I were going to cycle 45.7km today. This is the map.

One of the highlights of the day was crossing the water in Cruquius. Ferry info here and here. This little ferry fits 12 people max and is 50% solar powered. It's not a speed boat but it worked beautifully. It was operated by volunteering pensioners. For them it's a great opportunity to spend time on the water. As it uses an electric engine it makes hardly any noise. I loved it!

Time for the first coffee stop.

When we reached the first flower fields I also spotted this statue that someone had put next to the road.

Flowers.

More flowers.

More flowers.

And even more flowers!

Marjolein.

On the way back we cycled through a little forrest area and we saw wild deer who were not afraid of people anymore.

After a shower and delicious Indian food (take-away ;-) we went in to town and had some drinks on a terrace until it got too chilly.

Lovely day.

The butterflies

Two butterflies were dancing with each other on my way home today.

The cruise liner "Marco Polo" arrived.

While waiting for my dinner 2 horse coppers drove past.

I tested a new delivery service. A Thai delivery service.

And it was good. Very good.

The first outside dinner!

Waiting for the tram on a lovely, crispy spring morning. It was gonna be warm.

In the evening my appointment got cancelled so instead of meeting at the station I met Marjolein at the IJ-kantine close to my work where we had dinner.

Marjolein making pictures of the sunset.

A thing to tie your ship to.

Ships like this for example. The "Sirius" owned by Greenpeace.

We took the ferry across.

After a few drinks in Mulligans we walked back to the station.

But not before eating a midnight snack (pancake!) at the fun fair.

Waiting for my tram home almost exactly 16 hours after I waited in the morning...

Dodgy shit

Across the street it looks like something dodgy is going on with cars. Nice reasonably new vehicles and a lot of them have foreign plates. Weird.

Colleagues Eelke and Sylvester cracking the next software issue.

I baked an apple pie for tomorrow night when Marjolein and Martje are coming over.

The hot dog

The sun made things hot today. About time!

The ehm... fun fair!

I was going to have a day at home but the weather was so beautiful that I called Marjolein and we went off to the beach. Well, I went on a little train ride first...

At the beach.

Hi.

Later on we went to the session in Mulligans where we met some friends. It was a lovely quiet evening with just slightly too much to drink. When we walked to the station again we saw that the fun fair was being put up again.
