The plants

Saw Nic in her shop "Cake loves coffee"

This plant in my garden is exploding with flowers.

Shrubs are growing lots of new leaves.

And the mini-orchid is about to pop its first flowers, too!

And then there was also this beautiful girl :-)

The 4th of may remembrance

OK. This is going very wrong now...

After work I rushed home for a shower and then returned to meet Marjolein in town. We were going to the 4th of May WWII remembrance in town. As we were meeting soldiers and marines were marching towards the monument.

We went to what is becoming our usual spot, in front of the palace, where we also met mic.

There were about 20,000 people.

Lots of security as well but whoa, check out the big dude! He was a giant!

And then the queen and her sister popped out followed by her son, our future king, WimLex and his wife Maxima.

Afterwards we had a few drinks in Mulligans.

The Ocean Diva "Futura"

Queens day remains...

Till next year!

My colleague Tanja sold her house and she brought cakes to celebrate. LIKE!

The Ocean Diva "Futura" is docked next to my work. When I saw it passing the other week I thought it had a somewhat familiar look from the side... It's designed after an Excelsior class starship from the TV series Star Trek. More info on the Excelsior class ships can be found here.

I'm not sure if this guy was told how to fish. I did see him/her try to catch a passing bumble bee though!

Queens day 2012

It was Queens day today, the day we celebrate the birthday of one of our former queens. There are parties every where and nearly every city or village has a "free market", a market where everybody can pick a spot and sell stuff. Even stuff nobody wants anymore...

Here are my queens day pictures. Please click them for a bigger version.

I left the house around ehm, 11 I think and walked through the Vondelpark.

It was already very busy.

This park is traditionally a family thing so there are lots of kids. Some people sell their second hand shit stuff and others sell (homemade) food and some let you throw eggs at them for money.

Yours truly.

I sat down at a quiet spot to cool down as it was very warm. I started photographing some people with funny hats.

Wigs...

Crowns...

Cowboy hats...

Fancy hats...

Funny hats.

This boy was drumming and hr was awesome. There was a very large crowd around him when he was playing. I gave him some financial support ;-)

Mid arvo I went for a second walk and took my big camera so i could take some better pictures. I walked towards the Elandsgracht this time.

The Elandsgracht. When I was half way it got too crowded and I went back.

I stood on a bridge for a while.

I wanted to photographs these two girls. One had bunny ears and the other a huge wig. My camera was a bit slow and they a bit fast so instead it turned in to a close-up. But you can still see the wig and the bunny ears. And me too! :-)

Other girls being interviewed. No idea for which station. Can't be AT5, the crew looks way too old...

The Haarlem fun fair

Amsterdam Sloterdijk station. The most romantic station in the world. Or is it the complete opposite?

I helped Marjolein hang up a new lamp in her bedroom. The lamp only cost 5 euros at IKEA but it's a BIG improvement :-)

Then we went in to town for a bit of shopping. We didn't find what we looked for but we did run in to the fun fair!

This lady seemed to have a lot of fun.

So we decided to go on the same ride! It was great fun until the cart we were sitting in started to make squeeky noises...
