B.J.

This morning I went to my new employer and signed the work contract. I will be employed as a Senior Software Engineer using C# and .Net. It's very exciting and I can't wait to start. I'll have to wait a few weeks though.

To celebrate I took Nicole out for lunch in Semaphore. Well, that certainly never happened before! ;-P

On the jetty we had a chat with a lady and her beautiful Rottweiler B.J. He's an old boy who recently had a new tendon put in one of his back legs for AU$ 3000. Now that's love for your pet I think.

The view towards the sea along the jetty.

One of the jetty's pillars.

The beach was beautiful. It made me want to jump in. I reckon I'm going for some snorkeling when we get a nice day next week. There's no one here during the day!

Grey

We went to the bakery today. Yep.

And I walked Mason. The weather seemed very... Dutch. It's cold today, I miss my heater.

The buildings

Yesterday, on Kees' blog he asked us to take a picture of the Adelaide railway station in the city. So today Nicole and I went for a drive (good for me) into town to take the photo. We also took some others.

So here you go, Kees. This is the Adelaide railway station photographed from almost the same spot I reckon. It made sense coz this was the only spot where there were no trees in the way. It also houses the Adelaide casino these days called Sky city.

Backstreets in Adelaide's city can give beautiful views on old buildings.

An old warehouse type building.

Nice old-style red brick work.

We also drove to Largs Bay, a very old suburb of Adelaide. Not for fish and chips this time but to check out an organic food shop. I photographed this building.

This was the view down the street. The railway line shown in the photo's I posted yesterday (showing a train riding up the jetty) went through this street.

Largs jetty

I drove us to the mall in the morning. We arrived in one piece. Nic bought more minutes for her phone.

Saw some imported cheese at the Italian deli.

Completely random view in the supermarket. Really!

Just to prove it was random, here's another random view.

In the afternoon I walked Mason.

It was sunny but windy.

In the evening I drove to Largs bay. In the kiosk (that used to be run by a Dutchie and still sells speculaas and kroketten!) they have old photo's of the jetty, very old photo's. It seems it functioned as a bit of a sea port in the days of way back.

A steam train went all the way to the end and the jetty seemed much longer than it is now, also much wider, at least 4 train tracks wide.

The beach was wild, there was a very strong wind and the clouds were big.

We fed the gulls again. Some are not afraid to eat out of your hand.

The jetty.

The water reached all the way to the dunes. It actually made the dunes a bit smaller. As you can see some dune-grass has been pulled down. Not good.

It was getting greyer and windier and it would start to rain soon (which gave me my first rain-driving experience!)

My little homie ;-)

The other world...

Today had basically 1 1/2 events.

Event 1: Playing world of warcraft. I increased the mining skill on my rogue from 265 to 295, got cooking to 300 and also lock picking is now 300. At the end of the day he was ready to move into Outland where he is now parked and ready to be employed.

Event 1/2: I drove around town twice to gain some more experience. Apart from driving off with half the handbrake on in the first minute nothing bad happened really. By the way, Nicole made this picture.

The river

We woke up early today (6am) to drive off to the river to visit a family friend.

Some of the views at this time are quite beautiful.

The roads were empty.

We stopped in Mannum along the way.

We could already see the river through the trees.

Our friend, Jo, lives -at- the river. It was lovely and quiet when we arrived.

Tony was quick getting out his fishing gear.

Jo (actually Josip) got a haircut from Vicky.

Here's the gang of four from left to right: Josip Jr, Vincent, Marko and Drago.

During the day we saw many boats pass us by (in between waving the flies away).

Because of the drought the river is about a metre lower than usual. It's a seriously sad state actually.

There were also a lot of speed boats pulling people on all kinds of floatation devices.
