Fresh air, finally.

It was hot all night. We had everything closed trying to keep the cool air inside. It worked until about 6 AM. We can't keep the air conditioner running through the night because it kinda has the same noise level as a small aircraft taking off. And hence we got up at 6 AM. We had the air conditioner running all day because temperatures soared towards 41C today. But then, in the afternoon, the cool change came! You have to understand that in circumstances like our, Australians LIVE for the cool change. As I'm typing this, it's 8 PM and we now have the door open and the temperature in here is only 26C. A few hours ago it was still 35C outside. Also we can breathe fresh air again. This is important because I did some soldering today creating not so nice fumes.

Since I was indoors all day I only have boring pictures:

I worked on some electronic part for my model trains.

It's a block occupancy detector. It will tell me if a certain stretch of track is occupied by a train. I need this information because I'm planning to let everything run automated in the future and then the controlling computer relies on information like this.

The beach

Leaving the house to work.

Arriving at work.

My colleague Buddy had his birthday and brought a delicious chocolate cake to work.

This gigantic waste of road was driving past. I guess it's getting too expensive to hire one so to get the price down they put advertising on it. I guess there's always money in advertising.

After work I waited for Nicole to drive to Henley. It was 40+ again today. Tomorrow will be milder. Only 41 instead of 43.

The beach was packed.

After dinner we saw a little bit of the sunset.

Lots of people hanging out on the grass.

The sun actually set behind the clouds. It gave us an excuse to get in to our airconditioned car sooner :-)

Mmmmmmmmmilk

I got breakfast at Cibo this morning. All the staff was wearing T-shirts with the word 'Cibo' replaced by "Love'. All because Valentines day is coming up.

My breakfast was nice. A toasted ham/cheese croissant and a packet of milk. It's hard picking which of those I like the best.

Finally it was cool enough to have lunch outside again. I sat next to the church. As it is slowly cooling down, today it was only 34C, funnily enough tomorrow is going to be 43C and Saturday 40C and then the rest of the week it will be 26-25C. Strange.

I worked late today. I felt like I didn't get much done. Nicole picked me up around 19:30.

Driving

On our way to work this morning we passed this car with the plate "Venom 2". It belonged to a snake catcher according to the sticker on the side. The guy in the car looked like Hulk Hogan. It was funny.

My working day starts by waiting 10 minutes for Windows to start up.

While it was doing so, I got coffee. I'm happy with my little cheap coffee maker that requires hardly any maintenance.

The drones were out on their way to their master.

After work I caught the bus to Lawn Bowls.

I was skipper tonight meaning I guide my team mates to victory! Well, I did my best but we lost by only two points.

This is Tony. He and Gavin are our best bowlers at the moment.

I had a few excellent drives tonight. Using two drives in two different ends I turned 7 points against us in to 3 points in our favour. It was exciting.

I was busy.

First: Happy birthday Stephen!

Next: I have no pictures. I was very busy at work with something requiring a strong focus. It was still too warm to have lunch outside so I bought a sandwich, ate it in 10 minutes and went back to work. Not my style but I wanted to get stuff done which I did in the end.

OK, I'll make a picture now but it may scare you:

There you go ;-P

PJ's was fun!

After work I walked to the pub and I ran in to this dead dinosaur. Or maybe it was a replica. I think his flesh had melted off the past week or something. Maybe that's how they got extinct. Maybe. Yeah. I don't know. Do you know? Or do you just -think- you know? Who knows? Nobody can tell. It's one big secret. Just like my pin code. That's a secret too. And the colour of the queens underwear. Nobody knows about that. If you know, can you please tell me?

We went here to meet with Stephen and Caroline and...

... Michelle and Ryan. It was really nice to have dinner with all of them again. We had lots of laughs and it was really relaxing. Oh, and my parmi and three pints of Magners was also very good.

Now we're back at home with the air conditioner on. But tonight we're gonna try and sleep with the door open and the fan in front of it. I'm very scared of mosquitos.

Church

First of all: Happy birthday Danny! :-)

This morning I went to church. After making a large donation, God rewarded me with about 200 electronic components of all sorts which I will use to build 20 track-occupancy detectors for my model railroad.

After church I went to work. Only for four hours. I wanted to make my work for the next week a bit less stress full so I did some today. It's boiling hot anyway so you don't really go out.

At 14:40 Nicole picked me up again and we did go to Chocolate @ No. 5 in Hahndorf though. It was a nice break. When the heat forces you to stay indoors all week you really need a break after a while.

On the way home we picked up some char-grilled chicken and some chips. It was actually very nice. Char-grilled chicken isn't very fatty either so that's good.
