The leftover cake

This morning I had my breakfast really early, just after 6AM because I had to drop Larissa off to do her driver's theory exam (which she passed!) at 6:45. I was at work a few minutes past 7AM and so I was hungry again around 9AM. Thankfully there was cake leftover from yesterday so I didn't die of hunger ;-)

The cake, the rainbow, the hygrometer, the mold!

A colleague brought birthday cake to work, yessah!

The weather is still shit but at least there were rainbows.

My hygrometer arrived today. I need to know the humidity in my garage because...

There is mold growing on certain shelves. Since there is currently zero ventilation I have the feeling the humidity is way too high...

The shirts

I had to make a caramel and chocolate pie for tonight's party. Busy busy busy.

In between I went with Simone to watch Milan play ball.

Simone also ordered a cake for me. For the first time ever a cake had my name on it :-)
Apart from that it tasted great!

In the evening we celebrated not only my upcoming birthday but also my moving in with Simone. We had a full house and garden and I had a very nice evening. A while ago Mara saw me wearing this shirt and said her boyfriend Ray has the same one and she'd make him put it on next time they'd see me. I had completely forgotten and put on this shirt for no special reason. So in walks Ray, with the same shirt which was very funny :-)

The cakes

Because our company signed a contract with an amazing client we all got cake today. Very nice cake but really it's a start of a period with a LOT of work ahead.

More cake.

And even more! :-)

It was incredibly windy today. Big overcast as well. On the positive side; it's daylight longer now! Spring will be here soon!

Baking

I'm celebrating my birthday the next 3 days so I'm making one pie for each day. Bit of work....

Making caramel myself. It went well.

Going out

It's now closed for cars behind Central Station. Great!

Construction is going strong in front of the HEMA.

There were a few birthdays at work. I really, really liked the cake at the front. It's Indonesian I believe and called "spekkoek" in Dutch, "layered cake" in English but I doubt it if that's the proper name.

After work I walked to Mulligans to meet Mic. Now there's construction at the Rokin. I believe there's going to be a park here...

And there's Mic! We had dinner at Wagamama's.

Then we went to Mulligans again and stood outside for a bit.

We used to take the little stolls out and hang outhere all afternoon in to the evening very often during the summer. But that all ended when I moved to Australia. Since then the rules have changed and you are actually not really allowed to have your drink outside at the front... Sad.

Plenty to see here :-)

Mic in front of the pub where we've been going for about 20 years.

The booze room

My colleague Ernst had his birthday last Monday and now there was delayed cake.

In the evening we visited another school for Milan. I liked it very much, I actually think it's my favourite but it's also the one furthest away so it's probably not gonna be the one...

There was a room with this sign above it. I have no idea what the room was for but it had my name on it and pictures of booze so I figure it must be something good, no? :-)

The second proteine diet, day 21.

Simone made a cake. It's called "Arretjes cake" in Dutch. I have no idea how to translate that in to English, sorry. It's basically made of biscuits covered in chocolate sauce and it's awesome. You let it sit in the fridge to stiffen up, it needs no baking.

Not something I can eat during this diet unfortunately...

The second proteine diet, day 16.

I'm done playing Wordfeud. It was fun but it starts to feel like an obligation more and more.

My colleague Sylvester had his 12,5 year anniversary with the company today. He brought us cake, which I couldn't eat, again :-(

Instead I had lunch from a packet again. It wasn't bad; chicken curry with noodles.

The fuses

CAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!!!!! What a way to start the week. I'm ready. Gimme!

I had lunch with Tanja. We enjoyed some sun.

After work I went shopping. Rain clouds were building up.

It made my neighbourhood look lovely.

In the evening I went to my car. The main reason was that I wanted to check the fuses. They all seemed OK. I hoped I would find a broken one which could explain a few electrical things not working...

I also had a closer look at the rubber strips on my door, the ones that keep the water out. Well, they should. Mine are so dried up that they're cracking. They need replacing badly...

Another fun surprise was this hole. I think it's in my cowl vent. Always problem spot numero uno with Mustangs... Probably with most cars from that era. Oh well, I wanted one, now I got one ;-)

Turd cakes

My morning ferry ride, lift off!

Passing movie theatre "Eye".

And we have arrived :-)

At work there were little cupcakes...

... with turds on them.

The fishies

The sun rise this morning was beautiful.

It was blinding too!

There was a birthday colleague and he gave me cake. I was happy.

Even happier I was when Simone let me drop by in the evening. We had a nice time and I got to see their new fish tank.

I also scored to tickets for the AZ-Roda JC soccer game of this weekend. It's in Alkmaar and I'm taking my dad there. I'm very much looking forward to that!
