Sinterklaas at Marjolein's

Today Marjolein's family came over to celebrate "Sinterklaas". Traditionally they bake their own "kruidnoten".

Clockwise we here have: Marjolein, her nephew Ilja, her b.i.l. Alex, her sister Esther, her father Piet, her mom Willy and her niece Jade. They made surprises with pressies inside them and poems for each other as part of the Sinterklaas thing. I told them I don't like making surprises and poems and that I didn't really want to join that happening. They were fine with that so I just watched, which was fun.

I won a very exciting game of Wordfeud tonight. Have to tell Alex next time I see him.

The shadows

My druid has shown a liking for cross dressing today...

YEAH!

Lunch was at Wagamama today. Placido was there as well. It was a delightful little visit as always. This is their lovely open kitchen.

Venturing further in to town there was the opportunity to look at one of the sites where they are working on the new metro line.

This will be a station with a large underground parking garage.

Cool.

The view from the Kalvertoren cafe.

Shadow figures.

Coffee candy.

It contained a chocolate covered almond.

I scored a few jugs.

The Sinterklaas loot

This is my Sinterklaas loot. Some VERY nice scales, another bonsai, a box of technical Lego (funny!) and some marzipan.

And this was my breakfast. It was grrrrrrreat :-)

Breakfast dessert.

And I got another Christmas card.

While I was having dinner I watched some car-action on TV.

Always good, car-action :-)

Sinterklaas 2009

I took this photo for Nicole. It is the first time ever that I saw another person with the same model handbag. This was a black one though...

I had a Sinterklaas party at my sister's place. My folks and Cassie were there as well. And the cats too.

Cassie made a sensational starter: chicken and mandarin with a bit of whiskey sauce. I looooved it.

Then there were puff pastry bowls with home made chicken ragout. Very, very nice.

The cats were having a good time as well.

As they do.

Dessert.

And then it was time for pressies and poems. Dad first.

Then me.

I got this wonderful bonsai tree that I will now try to care for. I have two now so that increases my chances of actually having one that survives. This one is 9 years old.

Then it was my moms turn.

She got a painting kit.

Then it was Ilse's turn.

And finally Cassie's.

Sinterklaas was funny this year and had bought everybody a Lego present! My mom got a little car.

I took the train to Amsterdam and went straight home coz I was tired.
