A new flower

My orchid kinda stopped growing after I came back from vacation. Fair enough, the weather has been so shit that I don't blame it for not growing anymore. It's still making me 2 new flowers though. One opened during the night.

I worked from home in the morning and took the afternoon off so I could get a few things done.

I met Marjolein later and we went to get some poffertjes... after we went to have cake ;-P

I finally have a name tag on my door.

Finally I managed to put up my home-made fence door. I was scared the hinges wouldn't hold but they do remarkably well!

As a bonus I also made a hook to keep it opened properly.

At the end of the afternoon my orchid's flower had opened up even more.

Mason and I visited the boab tree.

On this path you have to jump over the bicycle.

We had breakfast in town (yes, again!) and I ordered very little to keep room for FAMOUS ADELAIDE POFFERTJES!

When we walked back to the car, we saw these guys sitting in a tree. They talked a lot. (click to enlarge)

Beautiful little bird.

They had a nest inside the hollow end of a branch.

The view in to the park.

When we came home I took mason for a walk. There are lots of flowers that are in bloom right now.

Mason pretending to be a cow. He was a very good boy but he still loves to pull. I don't think that will ever change, and that's OK. He listens well to stop and sit commands. It was lovely to walk with him again. (click to enlarge)

We walked all the way down to the boab tree. It's a beautiful tree that soaks up tons of water. It's a very rare tree I believe.

On the way home we saw Caesar. He was a good boy too :-)

ACE!

A rose in our front garden.

For the first time in five weeks again we had breakfast at Scoozi's in town again. It was great to be out again. I love going out for breakfast. It's soooo relaxed. For some reason it feels nicer than dinner even.

I had to grab some poffertjes from the Dutch Adelaide poffertjes lady. They were great as usual.

Then we walked up and down the market.

Instead of walking through town we drove to Glenelg.

I had ACE gelato, the best in the world. Simply sensational.

Then we saw the beach.

While walking back to the car I spotted this beauty. Nice piece of work. Excellent.

In my attempt to eat more healthy I made another salad today. Enough veggies for the rest of the week!

Poffertjes!

We enjoyed a nice breakfast at Scoozi's this morning. I had raisin toast and two half muffins with salmon. Hmmmmm.

Since my visit to Melbourne screwed up my eating habits already I had poffertjes as well. These are THE best. The lady was telling us that the city council is thinking of closing the market because it's too expensive. I think that would be a BIG mistake.

I enjoyed the poffertjes very much today.

We walked back to the car through the park.

Because we had no food in the house we drove past Woolworths. There was a beautiful old Holden in the parking lot.

We bought mandarins.

And eggplant.

And paprika (but we got green ones instead).

So after we came home I wanted to do a laundry and found out we were out of washing powder. I went back to Woolworths and got us some more.

Adelaide poffertjes

The day started grey and overall stayed that way.

Happy to be able to go out again we had breakfast in town.

Part of that were poffertjes. The lady at the Rundle Street Market makes THE BEST poffertjes of Adelaide, Australia and the world. Even in poffertjes country no. 1; The NL, I did not have poffertjes this good. Well, apart from the ones my mom made sometimes of course :-)

This Rundle Street Market poffertjes lady is also the one and only from the Royal Show in Adelaide. Known there for years she has earned a very good reputation with her poffertjes made with her grandmas traditional recipe.

No other poffertjes seller can match these ones. There are a few other people out there who try making poffertjes but they all got it wrong...

When we came home we went to Woolies for some grocery shopping. We were not the only ones who had waited for the cooler weather to do so.

In the evening we went to Semaphore for fish and chips. Some people are raving about this Greek place called "Sotos" there. I thought it was "OK". I wasn't raving.

The blog dude

We went in to town this afternoon. But first we dropped Vicky off at the Croatian club. This is their main building.

In town there were two main attractions. One was the Rundle market where I was going to hunt down poffertjes. The other was was "Cheese fest". A cheese (mainly, but also some wine) festival. In this picture you see the start of the Rundle market.

This was the side of the park where there were no festivities. It looked beautiful although this picture doesn't really show. In the middle you can just see two people sitting in the grass. How fortunate are they.

Walking down the market, we found the poffertjes stand! I ordered my portion and the lady says "are you the blog dude?". That was funny. I checked and if you google for "poffertjes Adelaide Show" my blog shows up first. Very funny.

Anyway, the poffertjes were sensational again. I'm really glad to have them around. Thank you poffertjes lady! :-)

At cheese fest it was pretty busy. Too busy actually. As the cheese tasting was for free (entrance fee was $10) there were biiiig line-ups for the stands that actually had cheese left.

There was a band playing old time classics.

A bit more to the back people were just sitting in the grass with some wine and a cheese platter or whatever.

In a tent there were cooking shows, mainly with cheese.

We scored some absolutely cracking sauces made from native plants. I'm sure Nicole will have more about those on her blog.

Afterwards we sat down at Scoozi's for a small pizza and a drink.

These Akita pups walked past.

When we came home we made our bed using the new linen we bought on Friday. It looks good I think and it feels great. 100% cotton.

The linen is actually called "Dutch rose" and it looks like Delft blue.

I found this photo on Craigs blog the other day. It's explaining a disease called Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. I never really understood what it was. If you click the photo you'll see a larger version and you can actually read about it. It's a fascinating piece of medical information and it makes the disease totally understandable.
