The off-day

Around 9 in the morning on the last day of the year.

I wasn't feeling too well due to a stomach bug and a bad night sleep so I wasn't feeling like anything. hence I set a new record playing solitaire on my computer.

3 hours later the temperature had reached almost 40C. It reached 40 later.

The thing that eased my stomach: Coke. You can't beat it.

My best friends

We desperately needed new chairs to sit at our desk so it was off to IKEA!

Aparently even more popular than the beach today.

I guess they like IKEA's airconditioning better than the beach. Well, so did I hehe.

We found great seats. They're green, firm and quite basic but they are adjustable in height and angle, rather comfy.

I domesticated mine right away by throwing my clothes over it.

In the evening we went to the Thai around the corner ("corner" should be taken a bit larger than in Amsterdam as it was a couple of blocks away but still walkable).

Here we see Nicole busting her brains on what to order.

This shows a bit of the interior. Also rather simple but nice. The food was alright too although they used chicken thigh fillet instead of breast, which I prefer a LOT more. Maybe I'll try beef next time.

This is my numero uno best friend right now: The Airconditioner. Today it was about 39 in our garden, crazy.

My other best friend is this spraycan of Morteine. It kills every insect I see flying. I reckon it will cause cancer in 40 years time...

The blasts from the past

Turned on the tellie in the morning and what do I see?

Vanilla Ice singing "Ice ice baby". My day had started off good!

The day got even better when I remembered Vicky had brought me pancakes from the Croatian club the night before. They made a de-li-cious breakfast!

Next up were Dead or alive.

Their hit song was called "You spin me around".

I liked hearing it again very much.

Oldfashioned but very entertaining video. Lots better than that modern day shit.

A little bit newer: Supergrass.

"Alright".

Cool vid.

Even more newer but awesome video: Outkast.

Very talented guys who made their contracted albums for Sony and then quit I believe.

Outkast is only 2 guys. This is all them I believe. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

Coolness.

Who's this young lady?

Yes, it's Kylie Minogue! Almost 20 years ago I reckon.

This must be Jason Donovan then.

I've always had a weak spot for her...

Unfortunately she's already with Jason.

Then U2 came on.

"Beautiful day". It was 37C in our garden today btw. A bit too hot if you ask me.

The Edge looks like something fell on his foot...

Last but not least they played "Take on me" from A-ha. Great classic.

It's about a girl reading a comic or something in a cafetaria. The comic is about "Bertus op sien Norton en Tinus op de BSA" I think...

Anyway, they finish eventually. Or, well, they pass a dude waving a flag. God knows what that means...

Reminds me of something: I was flagged 3 times once while go-karting. I didn't know what it meant so I didn't take much notice untill those bastards turned my kart's engine off. Aparently I had to let faster karts pass me. What's the sport if I do that?!

The coffeelady in the cafetaria is awfully disturbing. obviously she never reads any comics.

You can just tell she loves reading comics...

Here it gets weird. A cartoon-hand comes up out of the paper. Yeah right.

She then takes the hand and guess what?

She ends up in the comic herself!! If that's not freaky...

And the other way around: In the cartoon there's a flesh and blood keyboard player! Surely that's not for real? What do you think?

After these blasts from the past I was pushed back into the reality of the day: Shopping at Woolworths.

I wanted to go back to Virginia, to the gardencenter to get a better bottom pot for my ubercool to-be waterfeature. We passed "Adelaide wreckers" who aparently specialise in British AND European cars!!! How about that?

In the evening Nic took a shower in the garden. Oh the mozzies must have had a feast...

Hot

It was hot today but nevertheless we had places to go to...

My faithfull chaufeur was awaiting my presence in our vehicle.

We drove to a nursery in a little town outside of Adelaide called "Virginia". I bought shallow black pots and a little 5 Watt pump to make a water feature with. It's supposed to work on solar power so I think we're not going to get the 5 Watt maybe but maybe it will work on a lower voltage as well. Stay tuned!

As it was too hot to do anything else I turned on the airconditioner and worked on my coffeetable traintrack plan the rest of the day.
