France - Day 1

Today marjolein and I went on vacation to France. On the map above are the places we planned to visit. First Paris then Bayeux (Normandy), St Malo (Britanny), Perros Guirec (Britanny) and Paris again.

We had an early arvo Thalys to Paris.

It only took 3.5 hours!

Because we only had 1 night here we quickly went out after finding our hotel and dumping our bags. The hotel was close to the Eiffel tower and I planned a little walk along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées up to the Arc de Triomphe and then to the Eiffel tower and to the hotel again. We reached the Arc early evening.

It got dark while we were at the Eiffel tower but that made the little lights all the better :-)

Taken for my dad who thinks the plant in his garden is tall and didn't want to believe me that they can get a lot taller than 180cm ;-)

There was a movie premiere in town.

I have no idea who those legs belong to really...

Marjolein and I met Kees in Mulligans to see a great band.

Sleepy much?

A guy was sleeping on the morning ferry. It lasted from across and back. Then the skipper decided to wake him up...

On my way home I spotted the Swan family. They're doing well.

Pigs in space

I was woken up by this f*cking helicopter at 7AM. It hung in the sky close to my house because the cops were evicting squatters...

Somebody spent some serious dough on a insane private yacht...

The real deal

Sylvester scored a FREE sandwich! It barely fitted in his mouth but he managed well!

At 4PM the fire alarm went off. The funniest part was all the people trained to deal with emergencies and save all our lives jumped up from their chairs because for once they didn't see this one coming as it was for real! However, it appeared a few of our smart-ass sys-admins drilling a hole in the server room-wall about 40cm next the a smoke detector...

The party

Marjolein and I went to Olf's (Mic's dad) 65th birthday. I have known them for a long time (20+ years) and I am really happy they invited me. That was just very nice of them I think. We made a small stop at Museumplein because Marjolein got a bit tram-sick. Poor thing :-/

Eventually we made it though and had a lovely time. Here's Mic, Daan, Erin and Marjolein.
