I took the bus to work this morning because I'm going out straight after work! :-)
I decided to walk into town from work, which is about an hour's walk. The weather was great so it was very nice.
I walked past my old house and was able to look inside and see what they've done with the place!
There is a kitchen where my bed once was.
They made a bedroom where my old kitch was and put a wall around it. I would've done the same thing except I would have made the bedroom smaller so that the little window would be in the kitchen. It's a dark hole now, the kitchen...
The living room door is some black metal thing with a lot of glass in it. Glass = OK, black = shit.
The windows got fresh paint but no green which looks odd compared to the other windows.
I continued my walk along the beautiful canals of Amsterdam.
When I got to Mulligans I was hot and very thirsty so I ordered a cold, juicy pint of cider. Wonderful stuff this is!
Gerrit joined me for a few drinks and a great Indian dinner and we left 10-ish. A lot of things changed in the area lately so I was quite amazed to see that whole streets had another look now, like this part of the Rokin.

The fog
It was very foggy this morning. It made for a few beautiful views from my office. This is Sloterdijk.
Windmills were sticking out of the fog.
So were the cranes of the Amsterdam harbour.
Using a pair of binoculars I spotted the Wester tower in the distance.
Cool eh?

The new year's dinner
Just as I was waking up a big fat truck stopped in front of my house to unload stuff for some neighbour somewhere. I have too many neighbours. I need less neighbours.
The morning was crystal (tower) clear, contrary to yesterday's morning. Beautiful.
Sun rise on the other side of the tower.
In the evening my work's new year's dinner was held in the restaurant at the first floor.
It was nice but more than half my floor wasn't there so that was a bit crap...

Last day at the old office.
Tomorrow we move in the new office. This means I only have to take the ferry one more last time to work tomorrow and that's it. No more ferry. At least not to get to work... So today I'm making a few pics of my journey to and from work one more time.
Leaving Amsterdam Central Station.
Passing the EYE and ADAM.
There are usually lots of seaguls flying behind the ferry. I never see one actually cathing a fish...
This is my current work location. The building is nearly empty apart from half of the ground floor.
At the end of the day I took my desk apart and put my stuff in 3 boxes. Tomorrow is D-day for us.
Walking back to the ferry I took some more photos.
My colleague Ernst cycled past but he's always in some other dimension it seems ;-)
The colourful student-housing.
Mess.
For some reason the busiest connection at the busiest time gets the smallest ferry. Seriously... This one does have 1 row of seats all the way at the back though and I love sitting in the corner. It gives me the feeling I'm doing a mini cruise for 10 minutes. I sat there one last time to enjoy the views.
IJ-kantine.
The Veronica ship.
View.
Ferry-folk.
The NSDM in Amsterdam North, a place beyond belief.

The new lunch
The Christmas tree in front of Central Station is up again. Very nice.
On my ferry there was this woman who was quite happily throwing balls around. She kept her helmet on, the whole thing looked quite bizarre...
Today is the last time we can order these kinds of lunch items since next week we'll be at the new office.
The above and the below have been my Friday afternoon staple for a year now. I just love that food. It's been such a lovely break on the last working-day in the week.
This is one of the things we can get at the new office. It's the ONLY "snack" you can get there. It's very nice though! There's salami, mozzerella and red onion.
The Christmas tree opposite the street was put up again, too. Christmas must really be coming. Doesn't feel like it with everything going on at the moment. Toooooo busy.
I watched the Masterchef Finale at home. Georgia won, a little bit to my surprise actually.
And then Simone and I went out and I bought her one of these for her birthday (which is early Januari). She bought another one herself as well so we have two in the house now.
Great sound!

Things to do
The Nassaukade close to my house.
I had to do a few things back at my place that I just don't get around to otherwise. One of them was repotting my grandma's plant. I once gave it to my late granny about 20 years ago. When she died I took it home. When I lived in Australia my suster Ilse took care of it and I'm again looking after it since my return. It's doing well but now it needs a bigger pot...
I put little rocks at the bottom.
And voila, enjoy, little plant :-)
Another thing I wanted to do was connect the new thermostat. The old one has a fucked up display so you can't even read the temperature or use it to set the time or temp. Useless.
But to start using the new one you have to pair ir up with the remote receiver first and then re-program it etc. It's done now.
And a third very important thing I've been wanting to do for ages is getting a recent backup of my stuff that sits on my iMac. Check.

The views
I took some piccies whilst waiting for the ferry this morning. Turned out quite nice. This is the big bicycle parking at the back.
Looking West.
North.
Southwest.
East. Lovely crisp morning it was.
