The new horseshoe

Today we went to Victor Harbor, a little coastal town South of Adelaide.

We parked next to the lawnbowlers where there was a lot of action going on.

I love the nucleair explosionlight feature on my camera!

In the town square there's a statue of a whale-tail. It's actually a fountain and this little boy enjoyed walking underneath it. I hope his folks had dry clothes with them ;-)

And this is Klaus's wurst haus. Famous in the whole region for his german sausages.

This gentleman must be Klaus...

The whole little house on wheels (although it doesn't move anymore I think) looked very nice and cosy inside. Very german too.
I was particularly impressed by the wooden sausage holders! I reckon they used bottle holders but nevertheless a fine touch!

From Victor Harbor you can cross the water to Granite island. You can do this by foot...

.. or by tram. The trams are pulled by beautiful horses.

At the stables the smithie was just demonstrating how a horse gets a new shoe.

The shoe is made red hot...

... and hammered into shape and size.

Then it gets put on the horses foot several times...

... to melt away space for the shoe.

Eventhough this causes tons of smoke and the shoe is really hot, the horse doesn't feel a thing.

We then proceeded to see the water which was crystal clear.

We didn't walk all the way to the island so you'll have to do with this far away shot of it.

Then we drove to Saudi Arabia to see some camels...

On the way back we were right on time to help feeding the horse some carrot. Nicole loved to have a go so here she is.

On our way home we stopped at a cheesefarm. As Dutch as I am, I have to say this was Nicole's idea, not mine. Nevertheless it was a good idea because we scored some really nice cheeses.

This cow was standing outfront.

And a bit down the road they also sold strawberries straight off the land.

And then it was dinnertime. Inspired by the horse I added a carrot to my meal.

Schutzenfest 2008.

I walked Mason by myself this morning. We did a pretty big round (1 hour ~ 3km) and without knowing where the hell I was going I ended up at that cactus again. It's flowers had opened but they only flower a couple of days. The floor was full of flowers that had dropped.

Mason was exploring new pastures...

Late morning we drove over to Drago's place. Here we see Marko and Drago.

This is Josip next to Nicole.

We had a very nice time and it was very nice to see them all.

After visiting Drago and his boys we went to the Schutzenfest in town. This is a festival organised by the German community in Adelaide.

The police marching band was there.

They escorted people carrying the flags of all german states.

The carnavaldudes were also present.

Nicole felt right at home of course ;-)

It's mainly eating...

and lots of drinking.

It was all happening here...

Luckily I found out where it was really happening!

There was also a "cultural" section. On display were for example German stamps. (Yes dad, STAMPS)

Opposite the festival terrain is the Adelaide Coca Cola factory.

The windows are very much dimmed but we managed to make photo's anyway ;-P

When we came home I got a little parcel from Daniel, one of my "magic" friends. He was kind enough to send me a little promotional gift of a new card game. This is available from BOOSTERDRAFT.NL. ;-)

The family dinner

Around 10:00 in the morning. Around 35 degrees Celcius. Around the block with Mason de pason.

He stops and sits down when you say "stop" (mostly). He doesn't pull as much anymore as he used to. He pays more attention to where you are (looking back often). He seems to understand more that we are in control (and not he) but also that that's not a bad thing because we'll get everywhere he wants to eventually anyway. The whole walking thing is coming together quite well. It's most enjoyable walking Mason.

Picture taken around our neighbourhood to give you, the viewer, an idea of what our hood looks like.

And then it was off to IKEA to buy a little wooden rack for underneath the mirror.

Except that they were sold out which is a bit of a pity after driving for 30 minutes... At least we have airco in the car now so my eyeballs didn't fry in my skull.

I think their sign can be seen from the moon...

I found a hidden flower in our garden. It's bright pink, it looks sticky and sweet but very pretty too.

And I'm not telling where it is ;-P

43C was forecasted today. Or 41, whatever. I managed to photograph a good 39C.

In the evening it was family dinnertime. Here's Gav being enthousiastic as always when he's preaching. The unidentified person behind the arm is Vicky by the way.

Tony looks like he's ready for his next nap and on the right we see a bit of Vicky.

Nicole and Karin listening carefully... to the voices in their heads ;-)

Airco airco airco airco airco airco airco

Nicole made a focaccia bread this morning with her home grown baby tomatoes on it! I think she was very proud of it ;-)

One of the best things sofar happened today: Airconditioning was put into the car we drive around in all the time! A BIG THANK YOU goes to Vicky and Tony! for having it put in (and for letting us drive around in their car) :-)

To celebrate the airco in our car we drove (airco on full blast, you should see my hair now!) to an italian restaurant nearby. Lovely place with Italians in the kitchen. It reminded me somewhat of a few places we had in Amsterdam!

A car with a funny plate parked outside to spoil our view. It had a cool plate though: "I".
