The toads

The weather was awesome, I went running! Twice around the mill and back. Boom! Never thought I'd be able to do this but I am SO doing it! Love it :-)

Have you guys met Snicker? It's Simone's little bunny. It's all soft and fluffy and cute. Having said that, I'll never be a fan of bunny pets, sorry...

Simone started cleaning the back yard and called me over to come fetch a few toads. Doesn't it look mean and dangerous? ;-)

I hadn't seen one in ages. There were two, which I put in boxes and took them to a more toad-friendly environment.

There.

And there.

The mushrooms

Simone, Larissa, Milan and I went for a walk in the dunes today. The weather was soft for this time of year and there was a faint sun, pretty nice for a little walk  and some fresh air!

Just enough sun to keep the cold away.

We walked past an airstrip for gliders.

There were mushrooms everywhere.

And more mushrooms.

And little wild trees.

Walking past the airstrip.

Tiny little mushroom.

And more...

And more...

Tiny tiny tiny...

The bike ride :-)

Lovely start of the day today! Sunny!

On the ferry to work.

Flowers along the water close to my work. There are a LOT of these... Actually think it's a weed. Looks nice though :-)

Sitting in the sun during lunch break.

Lunch-break view.

Since the weather was so fantastic, I went for a bicycle ride in the evening. First stop was Durgerdam. Lovely little village.

Durgerdam view.

I cycled along the dyke of the Markermeer. There were SO MANY insacts flying there that the seagulls were feasting on them.

Markermeer.

Then I cycled to Holysloot and then towards Ransdorp.

The Ransdorp church.

Church up close.

Sunset from Schellingwouderbrug. Pretty nice!

I came across this statue of a man and a sheep. Neat. It was very hidden and nearly missed it...

Almost home... I sat at one of my favourite spots in town for a bit. The fountain on Frederiksplein :-)

Walking in the dunes / beach

Today I went walking in the dunes with Marjolein. This is the area where we walked.

At the start there's a little lake. Kids dropped their ball in the water and dad was totally incapable of getting it out. Should've just dropped his pants and go in to get it...

Dead trees.

Living trees.

Marjolein.

Courting grebes at the bird lake. There's a bird watching shed there. I spy...

Cows from Scotland.

Then we arrived at the beach.

The sky was soft and pretty.

Lotsa dogs were there as well.

It was a very nice afternoon. We had a drink at Bloemendaal after and dinner later as well. I was very, very tired when I got home.

The sunset / The chess

Leaving work. There are beautiful sunsets these days.

I met Ruud in a chess cafe and we had ourselves a few games. He's good. He won.

Then Ruud's girl Laurien came along as well and I played a game against her.

Good times.

Scotland, day 14: Ullapool.

One last photo from my b&b bed room window. Lewis was nice. Cycling here was fun! Sorry Harris people, I like Lewis better...

This is the ferry that brought us back to the mainland. We're in Ullapool now.

Our b&b. They only opened a couple of months ago and everything still looks spiffy. Very nice place to stay in!

In the village there was a school piping band performing. Everybody was waving to each other because the midgies here were insane.

There was also some dancing.

We walked back along the pebble beach. The sunlight on the hills was amazing.

I couldn't stop making pictures...
