Cyling through Zeeburg
Very good techno music on my way to work.
View from the bus.
Walking the last stretch to work.
Having a small break outside at work.
And walking back to the ferry again. This flower caught my eye yesterday. I like it.
The weather was so nice and it's gonna be over so soon that I just had to get on my bike. Here is the Choppermeister.
I had no plan and went East towards Flevopark. At some point I felt a strong urge to take a left, an area I had never been before. And so I ended up in Zeeburg.
Very nice and interesting area! It's got re-used warehouses everywhere and the whole area used to be docklands with lots of islands that were once made to be harbours but then lost their use.
I reckon these are still WWII bullet holes.
Map of the area.
Cool new building. There is some awesome architecture in this area.
At some point all of the sudden I found myself at the edge of the city. It's just ended, right there, at the water. It felt weird and exciting, like I had discovered something.
I took a break at this special place.
Awesome bridge.
Statue.
Another statue called "Zeeman op de uitkijk".
I had a break at the head of Java island. Great views and there's also a great little park that may need to be used for a picnic someday!
On my way back home I cycled through the Jordaan.

The fuckery
I spent 90 minutes with helicopter noise coming from 2 choppers above the centre of town. It was because of 2 aggressive guys on a roof throwing shit down.
Dutch "news" article about this fuckery:

The beach / sunset
Waiting for the ferry. The sun was already bloody hot.
The weather was so awesome that I called Marjolein to ask if she felt like going to the beach and she did! I took the train down to Haarlem straight after work and grabbed a bite on my way. At the station I met Marjolein and we rented me a bike and cycled to the beach. Once at the beach we turned in to Cape-woman and blob-man. Except that I've kinda been blob man all my life but Marjolein doesn't usually wear a cape ;-)
We went for a swim, the water was great, and floated for about half an hour. It was awesome :-)
Then we had a few drink and watched the sun set.
And then we went home again. It was a lovely evening :-)

Der Hansie
Sometimes when I need a break I visit Paul on the other side of the building where his office is. he was incredibly busy today. A-huh ;-)
After work I ran in to my ex-colleague Hans who travelled through Asia for about a year or almost a year, can't remember. He was looking well but also a lot thinner! Maybe I should go to Asia for a year as well...
Tonight for dinner I made a salad out of leaves, goat's cheese, a drizzle of honey, a bit of crispy baked bacon and pine nuts. very nice!

The Vondelpark walk
This morning I went for an early walk through the Vondel park with my camera. here are a couple of shots from that walk:
This graffiti was on the way home.
Late arvo I went to Mulligans to meet Gerrit. Spotted a Zebra in a boat...
Zuiderkerk.
Gerrit at Coco's where we had dinner. Burger tragedy. Not going there for a while I think.
Gable stone on the way home.
Canal houses.
