My last day in Australia.

Dear blog reader,

This is a special entry because it is my last full day in this beautiful land that is Australia. It is with sadness that I leave this country behind but I am very excited about seeing my family and friends again soon.

Tomorrow Nicole and I fly to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia where we will stay for three days. Arrival in The Netherlands is scheduled for Tuesday morning 6:30.

V.

There were NO clouds this morning. Beautiful sky.

Not that Mason cared much.

I went to Tandanya this morning to learn more about the indigenous people of Australia. But instead of a museum, it was more an art exhibition. It was still very intersting. Especially the session at noon was very nice. There was an Aboriginal man playing the didgeridoo. That was my highlight of the day.

After the session I walked through the park to the pub where I met Nicole and some ex-colleagues of her. In the park I was attacked bu this beast! It cam running for me, hissing. But when I stopped walking, it also stopped one metre away from me. The funniest thing was that when I walked away from it, it actually came right for me! It was so funny. It pecked me on my ankle once, which was nothing more than just a tickle. And then it jumped back again. Probably to see me squirm in pain and agony from it's vicious attack! Well, too bad, because I nearly pissed myself laughing instead. Cute. I love animals so much :-)

The taps were frozen at the pub. You see that everywhere here.

My Coopers dark ale. Hmmmmmmm.

Late afternoon we went to Henley beach.

We wanted to have our last meal together, just the two of us, at our favourite restaurant.

Which is, the Thai Orchid.

Blog the blogger.

Because our internet connection is screwed in the phone exchange we went to Evida after dinner to have coffee AND internet.

That's kinda how I feel right now.

The rainbow.

Sunday morning has become breakfast at Scoozi's morning. Just because it is a delightful way to start the day. Today was unfortunately also the last time I had poffertjes. Next weekend is the last weekend in Australia for me and we will not be able to go to the market then.

One of the newer stalls is a man that sells bonsai trees. I like bonsai trees a lot.

Late afternoon we went to Henley for some giros. It was cold and very windy.

Very windy indeed.

It's been very, very windy for a few days now...

On our way home it rained pretty bad but we did see one of the biggest and most beautiful rainbows so far.

I Borg.

I cooked myself some Indian for lunch.

It was a shit day, weather wise. The birds didn't seem to be too affected by it.

During lunch I watched the Star Trek episode "I Borg". I love the Borg. I need a Borg outfit I think...

I picked Nicole up from work to go to Henley beach.

Karin took us out to dinner for our birthdays. It was a nice present. Thank you karin :-)

Gone.

Early morning. The pigeons are lining up to keep an eye on things that happen in the garden that might involve food...

It was a warm and sunny morning, Mason was lazy.

I took this photo during a typical Australian moment. It was warm in the sun, quiet. There was no wind and everything seemed to say "aahhhhhh, sun".

Ahhhhh, sun.

And then the movers showed up. They worked fast but they were a bit rowdy.

When everything was done we drove to Henley with Karin.

We had giros and I also had spanakopita. Hmmmmmm.

When I came home, my mum and dads card had arrived with a beautiful EURO bank note in it. THANK YOU! :-)

The models

Yesterday we discovered something horrible. Pasta Pot is gone and very nice, decent, non-fatty, quality Italian meals are being replaced by cheap, nasty, greasy, factory-made pizzas. I am grateful for Pasta Pot holding out so long while I was living next door. I will miss their great lasagna :-(

During lunch, my trip to the supermarket was made a whole lot more interesting by a fashion show in Rundle mall.

I think most of these girls need to eat a few more pies...

I ate lunch inside coz it was a bit too chilly outside. How do you like my lunch view eh?

After work we went to the Thai orchid at Henley Beach. We caught the sun set.

The visitor

There was a big commotion in our garden this morning. Cocky-boy sounded the alarm. When I looked out the door, it became obvious: Cocky-girl had a nosy visitor! Another, wild, sulphur crested cockatoo had spotted her and checked her out! It was awesome to see this in front of our door. However, I feel sad for her because she will never have a companion...

I had a hair cut :-)

Later we drove to Hahndorf.

Frequent blog readers will understand the sole purpose of our Hahndorf visits ;-)

Driving back towards town through the Adelaide Hills. Big sky.

We also drove to Henley beach.

The wind was strong, it was cold too but always such a pleasure to be there.

Glory.

In the elevator to see my dentist. I took the morning off.

After the dentist concluded there was nothing that needed fixing I leisurely walked to work. I discovered a new toy shop. I don't care what you think, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Lego. I'd have children just so we can play with Lego together. Well, not really.

Sheep clouds during lunch.

I bought a Indian / Pakistani concoction called "biryani". I had mine with chicken. I told my Indian colleagues it was a bit dry. They laughed and told me it is usually combined with another dish that has sauce. We'll mix-it-up next time.

The weather was fantastic. Lots of people came to the park. It's so relaxed.

You can't let a day like this fade away without enjoying it at least a little bit so after work, instead of turning right - home, we turned left - to the beach.

Henley beach of course - my favorite.

We were just in time for the sun set.

It was beautiful.

It is I.

It is the jetty.

It is just fantastic.
