The beautiful day

Today we went out for breakfast! Going out for dinner is so passé these days. Breakfast is all the new rage ;-P

After breakfast we went to the central market.

This is NOT the company I work for.

There were mushrooms.

And oranges.

And stinky cheeses.

Afterwards we dropped by Jaycar for our weekend project needs and also by Woolworths for our weekly food and toilet paper needs.

In the afternoon we pruned the apricot tree, mowed the lawn, did the dishes and had Karin and Gavin drop by. Gav was very kind to try and get the chain saw to work for me. I will hopefully use it to take down a bad tree in the back of our garden next weekend.

And then I did the laundry and I had a shower. And then I dressed warm and lay down on the bed and read a few more pages of my Ludlum book ("Lazarus vendetta").

It was a very good day and tomorrow is going to be fun too :-)

The Flake

In the afternoon ("arvo" in Australian slang) I felt like chocolate. I like Flake but I had never seen this "luxury" version of it. It was GOOD.

In the evening Nic and I went to our favourite Thai restaurant in town. While walking from the parking to Lemon grass we saw some graffiti artists doing a piece for which they had permission.

wrrrrrrrrrrrrepz

Just incase you are too stupid to know how to make a wrap, here's how to do it.

It was f@#$ing cold this morning. There was frost on the grass in the park when we drove in to the city. A colleague told me about cars with ice on the windscreen!

Someone please remind me of why I moved here again...

At work things turned for the better. We now have our own phone. If I give you my number, you can call me directly! But I'm not, sorry :-P

In the evening we went out for drinks and food with Nicole's colleagues a bit. I met some nice people.

Vinz Tate

My colleague Luke has discovered this new feature of Facebook where you can upload a picture of some person and then put someone else's face on it. He loves playing around with it and today surprised me with his latest creation: Vinz tate.

For those who don't know who the real Terry Tate is, here are his best two video's:

Fruit and metal work

Early morning showed some promising weather. It was nice and sunny. Unfortunately, no clouds during winter means quite cold temperatures during the night.

When people in Adelaide go to work on a bicycle, they think they're actually in the Tour de France. If you like seeing lycra filled crack, this is the place to be!

A few weeks ago I told my manager about putting a fruit bowl in the office. He thought it was a good idea and today I was pleasantly surprised when I came in. I am very pleased. Easy reachable fruit. No need to go out and buy a Snickers bar anymore :-)

Of course it doesn't really help if someone puts left over cup cakes with 1 packet of sugar on each one next to it...

While in the bus on my way home I for some reason took this photo. There is something about it that I like a lot, even though it's an ugly part of the city.

Speaking of ugly, check out this building (not the car in front!).

I got off at Northpark shopping mall to do some groceries. I went to Coles instead of Woolies for a change.

When I came out it was still light. The days are getting longer again, thank god. The setting sun turned the clouds nice and pinkish.

This is the road I have to cross by foot. You can only do it when the cars get a red light. And even then you're not sure of your life...

As I walked home I passed this block of land. Someone took down the house that was on there, split the block in two and is now selling the two halves. The size of one half must be 8x20 metres at most. It's nothing! One half was already sold.

I noticed Mr. Clarke's shop. There's little doubt as to what he sells...

At home my crazy DIY personality took over.

It made me drill holes in an alumiNIUM heat sink that is required for my power supply.

While Nicole was filling in forms for our health insurance...

I was smoothening the edges of the holes and putting screw thread in some of them.

Elvis

In the food court next to my work there is of course also a Hungry Jacks (the rest of the world calls them Burger King). If you're interested to find out why it's called Hungry Jack's here, you may read this article on Wikipedia.

This is Cafe Fresh. I sometimes go here during lunch. The man on the left, behind the counter, is an Elvis imitator called Bruno. He's a cool dude.

Monday night is P.J's night :-)

Powerrrrrrrrrrr supply V3

We went into town this morning. Nicole wanted to look at mobile phones. We went to Meyer first. It's like the Dutch store called "Bijenkorf".

In the parking garage underneath there was a lot of "bling".

On the way home we stopped at Office works where I bought some plastic sleeves for all the papers at my desk. It's all cleaned up now :-)

Just after 17:00 we went to the Lemon grass Thai restaurant for dinner. I needed Thai food. It's just the best. I think it's my favourite restaurant in Adelaide at the moment. It's the third building from the corner, not that you can actually see that with my camera (phone).

It's really close to P.J. O'Brien's which can be seen from the same spot.

On the way home we stopped to fill up the car. AU$ 1.59 per litre today.

The times that we were at home today I worked on my power supply. First some redesigning. I'm still going to use two voltages but different ranges. The "Low" range will be 0.75-7.4V and the "High" range will be 5.5-30V. Click on the picture for a much bigger picture that's actually readable if you're interested.

Then I had to change a few bits on the board I had made before.

And then I put the board in the case. After taking the photo I actually also soldered all wires to the front. So now I have to put the transistors on the heat sink, mount it, wire it and then test it. See if anything explodes or not. You never know hehe.
