The trap

We bought gifts for the mice. Rumour has it that one of the 2 adult mice have been "trapped" already which is good news.

The Sebastiaan Cornelissen quartet

After work I went to Marjolein. I took some piccies on my way there. It's VERY cold right now.

She used to have 1 mouse for quite some time. Then she thought maybe 2. Tonight we counted 8. Time for some action!

After a wonderful meal that she cooked we went to the Haarlemse Jazzclub. We didn't really have any problems finding it but it is a bit hidden away in some arty complex that used to be the old tax office. A sculpturer had a small exhibition in the hall way. Quite cool I thought.

All these sculptures are made out of 1 piece of rock.

Neat eh?

The Sebastiaan Cornelissen quartet was playing. Very talented musicians performing at a very high level. It was great seeing and hearing them.

The root canal

No, this is not the root-canal. I had to see the dentist today for a bit of a root-canal treatment. Was nervous all bloody week. Got there too early and didn't wanna wait in the waiting room with pictures of tooth-insides on the wall explaining me what she was gonna rip out or cut in to or whatever. So I walked around a bit. Things look nice with the canals frozen over.

The root-canal went quite well, despite my dentist cheering over the fabulous discovery that my molars don't have the normal three roots but instead have FOUR. Oh joy, I was so excited... Gotta say that the whole thing was reasonably pain-free. Nothing to worry about.

Now we wait for the bill...

I did some Dutch shopping later. My life is so exciting sometimes...

It's Rudi time!

After work I went out with my sunshine Marjoleintje and my mate Ruud. Drinks, dinner and more drinks! We had a great night and it was good to see Ruud again.

Pain

On the ferry home. Not much happened today. I'm counting down til I have to go to the dentist on Thursday. I can't think beyond that appointment... I want the pain in my tooth to be over, it's so tiring.

The departure

People were ice skating on my canal.

Today the very sad news was announced that a mate of mine, Dick de Leeuw, had lost the battle he fought with cancer. Every person who knew him will be deeply touched by the loss of this wonderful man. It's made me very sad and I feel so, so sorry for Miriam, who has lost an incredible husband.

Rest in peace, Dick, you will be missed.

The winter walk

Waiting for Marjolein at Haarlem train station.

A little Robin greeted us as we started a big walk through the snowy dunes.

The little lake has frozen over and allowed people to walk to the other side in a straight line for a change.

Everything was covered in snow.

We walked for a good few hours and then we reached the beach.

Beach.

The withdrawing water left ice-shrooms on the beach. It was an awesome sight!

The sky was stunning.
