The seminar up shit creek

I attended the R&D seminar from my work we had up shit creek today. The hotel was very good though. It was a big hotel. I don't understand why there is such a big hotel up shit creek. It was organised well I have to say. Cookies and choccies, tea and coffee and water and soft drinks for grabs. Lunch was a very good buffet. I'll gladly have our next R&D day here!

The first presentation hitting off.

The view. Welcome to Shit creek.

During the lunch break we received the most important bits of equipment for our upcoming ski-trip to Austria. The most important ones being these wristbands which mean: Free booze in your hotel till 23:00. And also other drinks and cake etc etc ;-)

This was the other important item: The skiing jacket. yeah, it's orange this year. Zell am see is going to be VERY orange in 1 week...

The parking space.

Playing a game of Wordfeud with Margot whom I know from the pub. It's getting a bit too cosy for comfort on one side of the board...

While waiting for the bus to take me to the client below Rotterdam today I spotted this ad. Somebody isn't paying their graphic designers enough money to close the parking space between her front teeth...
I'm sure she's all lovely and everything but all I can see is the gap!

Amsterdam Central Station.

Yes!

Arrival in Amsterdam. I can't see anything yellow for a while I think...

Our neighbours have started taking care of a measle-ship.

The food-fairy had made me a batch of Dahl (also knows as dhal or daal) which I turned in to three lunches. Thank you food-fairy! :-)

The exodus

I thought I'd go see what's going on in Kaprun on the second day of Easter. So I took the bus.

There was this pretty little church...

Apart from that there were InterSport stores on every corner that were open and EVERYTHING else was closed. It was DEAD. I had to wait 30 minutes for my bus too...

In the afternoon we checked out of our very nice hotel. We had great service, great food and very nice rooms. It was all good in hotel Tirolerhof.

And then there was the yellow exodus. The people of Zell am See can take off their sun glasses again.

We waited for our train at the station.

Three colleagues and a friend of theirs. They were just a liiiittle bit tired ;-P

My colleague Alex and his lovely wife. I missed the opportunity to say bye so if you read this: It was nice meeting you! :-)

And then it got busy. We fit 7 people in our 5 person cabin for some poker. Sylvester was showing off his old-style "Happy hardcore" moves. (To get him to do this, make sure he's tired and tipsy!)

The Zeller see walk.

Todays activity was an 11Km walk around the Zeller see.

The water is crystal clear.

I went with my colleague Kim, her boyfriend and another fun colleague who's name I just can't remember (sorry!)

Again, awesome views.

Boats. During the summer there must be a thousand of these little boats.

The town of Kaprun lies behind that mountain. It's about 3000 metres high.

Zell am See from the other side of the lake.

We had lunch in the sun. It was warm and spirits were high :-)

Duckies came to say hello.

When I got back to the hotel I had a shower and a nap. Before lunch I had a beer with a few colleagues.

An afternoon in Salzburg

No skiing for me today. I rather discover new places. So I decided to go catch a train to Salzburg. But I was a little late so I had 40 minutes to enjoy the morning sun and a coffee with cake in town :-)

There was a small market in the centre of Zell am See.

The views from the train were often beautiful.

I made it to Salzburg fine and walked to the old city. I came across a nice little park.

I sat down at this fountain a bit. Just like I used to do at the fountain on Victoria square in Adelaide.

My guide for the day.

Salzburg is known because Mozart was born there. But in this house another famous person was born...

... Doppler.

I walked over a bridge to get to the other side of the old town.

View towards the city from the bridge. Up at the top is the famous castle but it was so busy I didn't wanna go in.

The street where little Mozart walked.

And there it is, Mozarts birth-house. It is... yellow. And there are hordes of tourists swarming around...

Cathedral.

People playing chess like at the Max Euweplein in Amsterdam.

This house looked old but the painting was well maintained.

Plenty of beefaroni in this town.

And then it was time to go home again.
