Crackerjack

The bowls have arrived. This is my own, personal set of bowls, in appropriate orange (part because I'm Dutch and part because I like bowls with a bright colour) with a shark emblem on it. I guess I can now be called the "Dutch Shark" on the green :-)

For the bowlers amongst us: They are Taylor Vector VS type 4 bowls. (Taylor bowls are made in Scotland)

See me in front of the shop on Nicole Mobile Blog.

Then it was off to the RAA to get a membership out before our trip to Melbourne next week. It was very warm and we had a drink next door.

Next up was clothes shopping at Tea tree plaza. We walked in through Myer and had a chat with Sharon. I forgot to take a picture unfortunately but it was nice seeing her again. Myer has setup for Christmas!

While Nicole looked for clothes I walked around a bit. It's a BIG mall on two levels.

Eventually I sat down in front of the Foot Locker and made the following shots:

And then Nicole came back, all shopped up.

After a quick visit at home to drop off our stuff we headed down to the beach. It was just too nice weather to stay at home. I just HAD to get wet feet :-)

Nicole watching but later she'd come in too :-)

Hmmmm..... the sea.

In the little dunes that they have here there were purple flowers...

... and yellow ones.

And this one is in our garden. No idea what it is.

In the evening I watched a movie called Crackerjack. It's about a lawn bowl club. I'm starting bowls this Wednesday and I needed to prepare. I can now do a "flipper".

Feeling hot hot hot...

Hot, sweaty, bright. Hmmm. What better lunch circumstances do you want? OK, maybe not the sweaty ;-P

After work we drove straight down to Henley beach. It was one of those first days where it was buzzing with people.

I was fantasising about swimming but there were others already in the water! We have JUST come out of winter.

If you are still living in The NL, ask your self WHY?!

We had Thai while watching the sun set in the sea. It was just beautiful.

The penguins

12:30. The hordes come out looking for food.

A bunch of penguins crossing the street. Blending in is always the safe option.

This is one of THE best tunes ever produced I think.

The spaghetti girls

The setting sun coloured the skies in the evening. I was waiting for Nicole to come home later from her work.

When she arrived, we went next door to the Pasta pot to get some Italian food. They make really nice, low-fat food.

My favourite dinner drink.

The spaghetti girls were watching my every move...

Cowboy Bebop

I watched an animé movie from Cowboy Bebop that I borrowed from my colleague Luke. It was not bad at all, though a little bit predictable.

The rest of the day I fixed a bug. I read a design document and I had a meeting.

Oh, and my colleague Mark explained that if you have 20 chickens, the chicken-poo they produce can be used to create bio-gas (methane) in a quantity large enough for daily household use.

I want.

And Australia was in the Dutch news today. I followed the link and got this beauty to look at:
Pigs are the KING bio-gas producers by the way. Imagine having 20 of these big boys. They can probably power a small town...

Happy birthday Ilse! :-)

Today it's my sister's birthday so everybody go over to her blog and wish her a happy birthday! :-)

I installed my new monitor stand first thing when I got to work. It looks quite nice. (Also notice my new coffee mug! ;-)

In the morning it rained a lot and I had to go out and buy us fruit.

I went to the Woolworths in Rundle mall.

I'm not buying kiwi fruit any more because nobody eats that in the office. Too messy probably. So I bought four apples, four pears, 5 mandarins and 15 bananas.

Yes, I do take pride in presenting fruit nicely.

After work we went to PJ's. There was a nice girl working behind the bar. A nice change from the usual blokes. Staff at PJ's ain't bad all together. They're all pretty good. Sofar I like the Scotsman George and this girl, Joanna I believe, the best.

The blog dude

We went in to town this afternoon. But first we dropped Vicky off at the Croatian club. This is their main building.

In town there were two main attractions. One was the Rundle market where I was going to hunt down poffertjes. The other was was "Cheese fest". A cheese (mainly, but also some wine) festival. In this picture you see the start of the Rundle market.

This was the side of the park where there were no festivities. It looked beautiful although this picture doesn't really show. In the middle you can just see two people sitting in the grass. How fortunate are they.

Walking down the market, we found the poffertjes stand! I ordered my portion and the lady says "are you the blog dude?". That was funny. I checked and if you google for "poffertjes Adelaide Show" my blog shows up first. Very funny.

Anyway, the poffertjes were sensational again. I'm really glad to have them around. Thank you poffertjes lady! :-)

At cheese fest it was pretty busy. Too busy actually. As the cheese tasting was for free (entrance fee was $10) there were biiiig line-ups for the stands that actually had cheese left.

There was a band playing old time classics.

A bit more to the back people were just sitting in the grass with some wine and a cheese platter or whatever.

In a tent there were cooking shows, mainly with cheese.

We scored some absolutely cracking sauces made from native plants. I'm sure Nicole will have more about those on her blog.

Afterwards we sat down at Scoozi's for a small pizza and a drink.

These Akita pups walked past.

When we came home we made our bed using the new linen we bought on Friday. It looks good I think and it feels great. 100% cotton.

The linen is actually called "Dutch rose" and it looks like Delft blue.

I found this photo on Craigs blog the other day. It's explaining a disease called Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. I never really understood what it was. If you click the photo you'll see a larger version and you can actually read about it. It's a fascinating piece of medical information and it makes the disease totally understandable.
