Bye bye 2016!

As I left the house this morning to do some shopping, a little critter was watching me from behind the window.

I went to get treats for NY's eve tonight. This guy has pretty good treats and I don't seem to be the only one who knows this...

And then the clock struck midnight and the fireworks started! Happy new year!

The quiet time

I was all alone with Silver and it was lovely and quiet, just what I needed for a bit :-)

I played a few games of Hearthstone. I like this game very much and I'm getting better at it!

The 2017 COTM calender

This is one of Simone's mom's cats. She has beautiful eyes with a very nice grey coat.

I finally got my 2017 COTM (Car of the Month) calendars! My Mustang is featured on the November page. I'm very proud of this :-)

The skiing

Today the four of us went to an indoor ski place for a one hour class. It was the kids' first time on skis.

They both did very well. It was a bit of a refresher for Simone and me. It was fun :-)

Apres ski was pancakes!

And after that we went into Eindhoven, the biggest city nearby.

It was a fun day :-)

The tents

Simone and I went to look at tents. It might be a cheaper option for our holidays. This would be the one for Simone and me to sleep in and where the four of us can sit at a table to eat for example.

This smaller one would be for the kids to sleep in and store some of their stuff.

The above tents are made of cotton. There are also nylon tents which are a LOT cheaper. They also weigh less and take way less space. They tend to get a bit hotter in the sun i was told though. It might be a good option for trying the whole tent thing out though...

Boxing day

Boxing day today. Silver was enjoying one of the hats we got yesterday ;-) (not)

Late afternoon we had dinner with Simone's family and it was very nice. Long day though and we were quite tired when we got home.

Merry Christmas!

This Christmas day we met my parents for brunch in a hotel in between Alkmaar and Amsterdam.

Everybody got a free hat.

My dad and my mom.

The place was packed but the buffet was pretty good! There was live music too, which was nice.

The start

Today it was car-time again. I really wanted to fire up my Mustang again to see if it would fire the first time, again. It hadn't run for a week so this would be a good test!

This is the old Pertronix I ignition. I guess I'll try to sell it.

The engine in its current state. I like how you can tell what's been replaced by how shiny it is :-)

Here's a movie clip of starting the car. It fired the first time but then died, think maybe a small lack of fuel or too cold or whatever. It did fire though and it would've kept running if I had given a bit more throttle. Anyway, I fired it a second time and it started running and it kept running. Very happy! :-)

So to me, having a proper starting engine after four years of owning the Mustang is a perfect start of my holidays. Then I went home and had one of the best cookies in the world and Silver came to sit with me and I played a bit of Hearthstone on my tablet. Life was nearly perfect :-)

The nothing

There's nothing to see here today, sorry.

Please come back tomorrow! :-)

The drinks

I took the bus to work again for a change because after work I was going into town! :-)

The city district council and ChipSoft have teamed up to display a Christmas wish on our building.

At work there was a bit of an emergency as I was seriously out of coffee... I had to run out and get more.

After work I took the tram down to my old place and from there I walked into town. Lovely little walk along the canals.

Max was behind the bar in Mulligans. The place looks extra cosy around Christmas.

Gerrit was running late so I stared at the wall for a bit ;-)

After 3 pints of Guinness if was most certainly time for some food. We wanted shoarma but the place was closed so we went to waga's instead. The food was niiiiiiiiice!

After dinner we had a few more drinks and then walked back to get the bus home. I had a very enjoyable evening and so did Gerrit by the looks of it ;-)

The dryer

So I was sitting behind my computer this evening and suddenly I smelled these scorchy fumes and I went to investigate...

My first suspect was the laundry dryer. I felt inside where it was warm but I couldn't see so I made pictures. I found out that there was a light with loads of dust stuck around it.

When I peeled away the dust I saw that it got all scorched black where it touched the lamp. The lamp itself had sunken down a bit and it had melted the plastic around it.

Needless to say this dryer is going out the door sasp...

The batting practice

Late afternoon we took Milan and a baseball buddy to the rest of his team where they got batting practice with machines. For 90 minutes.

The wire

Silver likes to sit in the window and look outside. I think he'd love to go outside. It would also make him a healthier cat I think.

I had to buy a few things from an electronic hobby shop close to my old house, so I walked past to see how things were going. Well, construction is definately under way. There's not much more to say. It already feels like it was very long ago that I was there...

We walked the folders early afternoon. It left play things for Silver.

Late afternoon I drove to my Mustang to put together this little cable that I'd been shopping for this morning. It was a fun little job.

The little wire serves as a ground wire inside my Mustang's distributor. It grounds the new electronic ignition module. Without a solid ground it doesn't work properly which very likely resulted in the really bad (not) starting of the engine.

But, my engine fired up on the first attempt to start! I am so pleased with this! Let's hope it stays like this now :-)

Not my photos

Simone sent me this photo. I like it very much. I'd totally use it as a Christmas card ;-)

And she also sent me this one which is funny coz Silver has a tree growing out of his head :-)

The while

It's been a while but today is another no-photo-day! YAY! ;-P

The mites

After work I went to the cinema with colleagues to see "Rogue one". Really cool movie, must see for Star Wars fans.

Silver is biting 2 spots on his legs a bit much and the vet suspects this is because of mites. So now he has to wear this thing around his neck. He's not amused but deals with it, eventhough it's not always easy. I feel sad for him...

The harbour

This morning I was at a client but there was not enough action so I drove him with a colleague after an early lunch. Bit of a waste of time that was...

In the evening we had a work dinner with colleagues from my team. It was a lovely and fun evening. The dinner was in the neighbourhood where our old office used to be. It was fun to walk through the area on my way home.

Seriously...

How could I not post this picture? I know it's another cat photo but, you know, he's just really, awesome :-)

Did a few things on the Mustang

I went to my Mustang today again, finally. I had hood studs to install but once I had them on and closed the hood I noticed the hood was actually not leaning on them. So, should they go like above?

Or should they go like this? Like this though, when I closed to hood, I notice the hood curved more leaving a bigger gap so these studs seem too high. What to do?

The main goal of today was to install a Pertronix Ignitor II and Flamethrower II. I thought I was going to replace the original points but to my surprise there was an older Pertronix system installed which I replaced instead. Unfortunately, the car still wouldn't start, although it did cough a bit which is more than before. But really I think I'll have to address the timing next...
