Little Cocky-boy has left the building.

Today I heard that on November 1st, All Saints day, my little very big friend Cocky-boy has died. I like animals but I never had anything with birds really except for this little Galah. He died at the age of 40+ (human years). He was always in good spirits and he loved the big cage that Nicole and I bought for him. He could speak, dance AND laugh. I think he actually learned to laugh from me, correct me if I'm wrong... Whenever you would approach his cage he'd always come up to you for a little pat on the head. It was so nice to come home late at night and he'd welcome you with "Hello! Hello cocky! Hello cocky-boy". And if I'd start to laugh, he'd sometimes frantically take over until he almost choked. I hope his little bird spirit is now free and that he will return as a beautiful strong Galah again and fly over Australia in freedom.

My day:

Somebody was not very awake when putting up the flag...

It was very windy today, not too wet thankfully.

I got my storm umbrella. This is a droplet shaped brolly that can withstand very hard wind due to it's shape but also it's construction. It's a Dutch invention and it doesn't come cheap.

Got pears?

This is David Bowie Pigeon. She has a bright eye and a dark eye. She also likes to peck toes and my rings.

Sir Cocky-boy rushing over to get patted. He has to walk side ways.

The morning sky. There were hardly any clouds. It was just beautiful.

Nicole reading a bit while waiting for me to get ready to go in to town for breakfast.

Scoozi's in Rundle Street. Since it was already mid morning and a week-day it was not very busy. It suited me just fine.

After dropping Nicole off at work I drove to Bunnings to get 6mm steel rod with which I will attempt to fix my hand-mower.

After Bunnings I drove to the super market. I bought pears, amongst other things.

It was... exciting.

Ilse's card finally arrived. It was for my birthday but also to wish me a safe trip home. Thank you! :-)

I was pointed towards this online video series about the people from a certain World of Warcraft guild. It's very funny and sometimes scary recognizable.

Five out of six guild members (Note: a guild must have a minimum of ten members...)

Sir Cocky-boy

This is sir. As Nic and I were leaving the house he came over for a little pat. He's funny. He likes human attention. We pat him on his head and his cheeks. I'm careful though because I patted him wrong once and he tried to nab my finger. And we don't want that! But I love him.

We were going to eat something while at the market but on the way we decided to go to Scoozi's instead. We parked in the park and this mag pie came to say hello to us. Beautiful bird with a gigantic beak.

We sat outside at Scoozi's. It was about 9:30, raining and quiet. Perfect for me because the alcoholic beverages from the night before had left me with a bit of a headache. I'm not used to alcohol anymore it seems. Probably because we hardly go out to the pub here...

So we went to the Central Market in town.

And then to the supermarket. Because they don't sell milk and toilet paper at the market. I was getting quite cranky by then.

When I got home I started playing World of Warcraft and I found my peace again. I hadn't played in over two weeks...

The Borg

Cocky-girl, pretty as ever.

Cocky-boy, always reminds me of a professional upper class drunk. I love him. This guy is over 40 years old.

Time to hit the streets.

Borg drones on their way to work.

Borg Cube.

Borg Queen.. oh no! It's Nicole ;-)

If you don't know what this is you haven't looked at my blog the past year ;-P

Beef masala.

I think I own the last Mulligans bomber jacket on earth.

Cocky-boy / The BBQ

Please meet Cocky-boy. He's a Galah. Galahs, like a lot of bigger birds, have interesting hobbies. One of them is wood working. Or should I say wood chopping. Maybe it's a cross between those. Either way, Cocky-boy loves working with wood.

He's been in his new home for about a month now. Beautiful new cage, much bigger and lots of room to exercise and also more sticks to sit on. The stick on the right is an original stick that came with the cage. The stick on the left is one month later.

So today I decided to put in a new one because we wouldn't want Cocky-boy to fall all the way down.

This is the new stick. Roughly 15 minutes after putting it in the cage. I hope the actual wood will be a lot tougher than the bark.

On a side note about him falling down. He actually did fall all the way down today while bending over too much to bite off bark from the bottom of the stick. No damage was done and he was back up in no time.

In the afternoon we put the BBQ together that Nicole and I got for our birthday.

This called for a test run of course so we fired it up.

With the barbie going only on half strength, Nicole cooked some bits and pieces that we scraped together.

Some bits and pieces were very nice indeed. It was an excellent first test-run!

After all this it was back to studying for me. At some point though I was rudely disturbed by a series of car smashes. Living to one of the main roads you get used to certain sounds but not to these. Running out to see what was going on I saw that 5 cars had smashed into each other. I wonder who was to blame for this...
