The poker night

A colleague of mine organised a poker tournament at work tonight. I came prepared! ;-)

There was pizza as well. Good stuff!

My table. At the time I did not know how fortunate my colleague Suzanne (girl in white jumper) was and how unfortunate she was going to make everybody on my table ;-)

Chips.

Suzanne raking in shit loads of chips... Unstoppable.

After the initial slaughter this table was left.

Guido (left) who organised the whole thing (and did a great job at it!) managed to make it to the final stage where he went head's up against Suzanne.

With all her fortune Suzanne had to win, which she did.

CS-Squash 2013

I hosted the annual squash tournament for my work tonight. I started doing this 3 years ago and love organising the whole night. This year a record number of 37 people came along. 32 of us had dinner first.

The first 2 hours I had people play different opponents for points. During the last hour there was a knock-out tournament.

It was a great night and everybody liked it a lot :-)

CS-BBQ 2012

WHOA! Good morning fridge!

Today we had our annual BQ at work. Meat and beer is what I'm after today!

I wasn't the only one...

Tent.

Some of my favourite colleagues ;-) Tanja, George and Ira.

Passed the HISWA again on my way home. HISWA is a sailing ship thing.

The squash

(Click for very large photo)
Only one thing was important today: the squash tournament I organised at work. 18 players, 1 admin and a photographer went to the Frans Ottenstadion here in the dam. First we had dinner together and then we played games of squash against eachother. The last of the three hours was a knock-out tournament so that there would be one winner. My colleague Ivo won the trophy I showed on my blog the other day.

It was an awesome night and everybody seemed to have enjoyed it a lot. Good effort by all and if they allow me I'll do one again next year!

The banana box

Part of my lunch. It was nice. Think I'll do it more often.

The fire alarm went off. No fuckery this time because I know they had a drill 2 weeks ago when I was out on the R&D-day. It was a false alarm though probably caused by steam when opening a running dishwasher.

My colleague Tanja has a special box for carrying bananas.

Chipsoft 2012 Poker tournament

On the ferry in the morning.

On the last (working) day of the year ChipSoft organises a Texas Hold'em poker tournament. Every year more people sign up. I started at table nr. 2 with Esther as dealer. Esther is one of 4 professional dealers dealing for us today. The dealers play big tournaments themselves as well and some have worked as croupiers in casinos.

The whole room had 4 poker tables in it.

I brought a hat and my sunnies for a change. It didn't help. I got knocked out fairly early.

The final table. 9 players left. 7 players will go home with cash. The nr. 1 player is taking 800 euros home tonight!

CS-BBQ 2011

Marjolein came to my work, yay! She was coming along to the ChipSoft BBQ.

It was a nice BBQ. The food was good and quite some folks turned up.

My colleague Tanja and partner Patrick were fun to hang out with :-)

My colleague Gioia was a good sport and went to get some cotton candy with me. I think this photo was taken before the big scare caused by a part of the bouncy castle collapsing and 6 or 7 kids ended up in a pile, unable to get themselves out of it. I tell you, bouncy castles ain't for kids man...

That's right. Cotton candy. It was good. And sticky. And messy. It got everywhere. It barely missed my underpants!

The boy-scouts were there too, making a fire. There's always a few. Tomorrow their moms will be complaining about their smoke-smelly clothes...

(Click to enlarge - picture is blurry on purpose :-P )
When it got dark Marjolein and I left and walked to the ferry. We saw a spot at the end of the quay where it was nice and quiet. We sat there with our legs dangling above the water enjoying the silence and the waves made by passing ships.

Later on we had some drinks at the IJ-kantine.

Great evening with my sunshine :-)

The real deal

The finished, new stairs to my work.

Sylvester scored a FREE sandwich! It barely fitted in his mouth but he managed well!

At 4PM the fire alarm went off. The funniest part was all the people trained to deal with emergencies and save all our lives jumped up from their chairs because for once they didn't see this one coming as it was for real! However, it appeared a few of our smart-ass sys-admins drilling a hole in the server room-wall about 40cm next the a smoke detector...

Vollari

One of my colleagues would rather drive a Ferrari I think ;-)

I went to our office in Drachten today for a meeting. Colleagues there like plants better than in Amsterdam. I like.

The Drachten office.

Back at the work-ranch a new doorstep is being made.

When I came home I watched an episode of Bottom.

Later I went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned. It wasn't bad but still more painful then having cavities drilled away!

I was early so I sat by the fountain for a few minutes.
