The new neighbours

We had a busy day today, too busy for my liking. My mom and dad skyped us just before they were going to bed and we were going out the door.

We headed out for another visit to the Volkswagen dealer to discuss the price. Nine AM. You see, we have very good reason to think that their price is about 4000 dollar (about 1800 euro) too high. So we explained this. And he offered a lower price but not as low as we wanted. However, we think we might be able to strike a deal this week with a new offer and we are hoping to order the car next Sunday. We still don't know which colour to go for though. We know that a black one will take 3 to 5 months and we are doubting to get a red Beetle if that is faster.

If any of you guys happen to come across a red new Beetle and you're carrying a camera, please make a picture of it for us because every picture that you see online looks different and we have no real examples here.

Then at 10AM the house next door was auctioned and bought by Karin and Gavin who will become our new neighbours! It's a long time wish of Karin to live next door so she's very pleased with it.

I played with Mason a bit while his mom and dad were next door. He could hear them, and naturally wants to be with them (that's what dogs live for) but couldn't. So he was constantly crying. You can distract him from anything by showing him a ball so that helped.

Then, at one PM we had a dinner date with some of Nicole colleagues at the Uleybury winery which was a pleasant happening. From right to left: Rob, Nicole, Jenni and Maggie. There were a few more but they didn't make it on to my camera...

After this we went to the Croatian club where the Croatian food and wine festival was being held. A massive amount of people showed up.

There were a few big tents with lots of... food and wine.

There was a dance group from Melbourne.

With a bit of a band from Melbourne.

There was soft-serve ice cream.

And Vicky's dance group was performing too.

These are some of the dancers. They looked quite good.

They had to wait for the public to get off the dance floor though. They were dancing on the hypnotizing Croatian music.

Nicole, the red nose reindeer

Breakfast consisted of apple, pear and pine apple. It's all still from the fruit bowl Nicole won one and a half weeks ago at the lawn bowls.

During lunch I wanted to sit outside but it was pretty chilly (20C) so I didn't walk all the way to Victoria square and I only stayed for about 10 minutes. This was the view to my left.

View ahead of me.

View to my right.

I walked over to Nicole's work again where I arrived a little bit soggy due to some rainfall.

After that we went to dinner and then to the supermarket.

We had a grand time at Woolworths today...

The cars

During lunch I sat on the other side of the fountain for a change. I noticed a tent was set up on the other side of the road.

It was filled with old timers. For the rally I missed yesterday!

This was my favourite. A Mercedes something. Absolutely beautiful.

I would settle for this Porsche as well though.

After work I walked over to Nicole's work and I sneakily took this picture of Nicole working hard. Unfortunately she had just found out her grandma had died. May she rest in peace.

Crap

I think today would classify as a crap day. Mostly because work was crap and VERY frustrating. Our offer on the Beetle was brutally declined and a counter offer wasn't even made. Apart from that there is apparently no black TDI with a beige interior in ALL of Australia (can you believe it?). And we lost our game of lawn bowl again. Just by a miserable 3 or 4 points. I heard an animal scraping or gnawing on the inside of our roof. Oh, and I missed out on a parade of old rally cars during lunch. I heard them, but I didn't know what it was then. Crap, crap, crap.

I didn't even make a single photo today. Thanks to guest blogger Nicole I have this lawn bowl picture to show you. Really I should've put a picture of a turd up...

You wanna piece of me?!

For lunch I went to Cafe Fressssssshhhhhhh with my colleague Mark. Vili's pie and a toasted ham/cheese sandwich filled the hungry tummy.

After work I walked to Nicole through the park. In the park were little duckies with even smaller baby duckies. I wanted to make a picture but the parent duck wasn't happy with me so close and thought it could scare me off by running towards me hissing. It was very cute. I wonder what it would've pecked if I would not have backed off? Would it know to aim for the shins or would it dig a hole in your foot?

At home there seem to be little birds everywhere. At least three of these are babies.

Our little doves are still hanging around our garden. They do fly a bit further these days too though. Sometimes we see them in our antenna.

Wheel lunch

Nicole and I visited two wheel dealers during lunch. Just to figure out prices really. I find most wheels very ugly. But according to this brochure girls just love your shiny wheels. And they'll come in to your car too!

No more photo's for today, sorry. I did just pick up a little gecko/salamander/lizard that was walking inside the house and put him outside. It was very cute :-)

Jetty to heaven

Late morning DIY. I remembered I am also making a fountain. That was actually one of my first DIY plans after we arrived. Making a little Zen garden fountain that works on solar power. That way it can turn on and off when the sun rises and sets. Pretty nice idea I think. So today I cut two pieces of PVC pipe that will be used to build the tower of fountain 'levels', Sorry, I don't know how else to describe it.

I also noticed an ant super highway into the shed and decided to track it down. This is where it starts, at the secret ant village...

From there it is around the corner and straight towards our front door.

Then along the side of the path which then bends towards the shed (thank god not in to our flat!)

Crossing the footpath towards the stairs.

Walking up the stairs in to the shed.

We have a visual on the target!

There it is. I guess ants like Coca Cola too :-)

I studied for a few hours and afterwards we got some poffertjes at the Rundle market. Because I was too busy eating those I forgot to make pictures... We then went for a drive and ended up at Grange Jetty which was nice.
