The bicycle trip

On the tram to the station, passing Wil Graanstra's chips stand.

At Haarlem station I rented a bicycle.

Marjolein and I were going to cycle 45.7km today. This is the map.

One of the highlights of the day was crossing the water in Cruquius. Ferry info here and here. This little ferry fits 12 people max and is 50% solar powered. It's not a speed boat but it worked beautifully. It was operated by volunteering pensioners. For them it's a great opportunity to spend time on the water. As it uses an electric engine it makes hardly any noise. I loved it!

Time for the first coffee stop.

When we reached the first flower fields I also spotted this statue that someone had put next to the road.

Flowers.

More flowers.

More flowers.

And even more flowers!

Marjolein.

On the way back we cycled through a little forrest area and we saw wild deer who were not afraid of people anymore.

After a shower and delicious Indian food (take-away ;-) we went in to town and had some drinks on a terrace until it got too chilly.

Lovely day.
