The new Prime Minister

We went to Bunnings today, a giant DIY (Do It Yourself) store.

It was big alright...

We also went back to a bed shop where we thought we had seen the bed that we want but can't afford. We actually went to make a picture so we can make it ourselves. Stupid enough the bed looked different than we thought so we didn't bother photographing it. Luckily enough Chinatown was close where we had a very nice Thai lunch.

Another day, another license plate.

Today was election day over here. Finally John Howard (Liberals) was dismissed as Prime Minister and the people of Australia have chosen Kevin Rudd (Labor) as their new one. He seems like an OK guy and has many good ideas. Let's hope he executes them as well.

Good news on the election. I knew the election was Saturday but stupid me, I was thinking we'd know the outcome later today. Of course it's Saturday morning here and probably Sunday there already.

I haven't adjusted to your new time zone yet!

@ ma: Ja, De labor partij is zeg maar de Australische PvdA.

We zullen zien hoe het gaat met het bed...

@ Kona: Very good news indeed. They want better worker rights, a world class education system, more funding for hospitals and a worldclass broadband network (Oz is way behind) and maybe the most important thing is that they want to urgently work on the environment (inc. signing Kyoto). So yeah, sounds like Australia is about to make a leap into the future instead of backwards.
