The remembrance

On the 4th of May we remember war victims. On Dam square, in front of the royal palace, lots of people gather to join in a 2 minute silence.

The national war memorial monument is there too.

Queen Beatrix is there with her secretary and her son prince WimLex and his wife princess Maxima.

I went there with Mic and Marjolein and afterwards we had coffee at Schillers.

A new Irish fast-food chain has opened in town ;-)

The big jumbotron screen at Rembrandtplein was OFF! A miracle! Needless to say I hate it.

People brought flowers to the monument.

Hey I remember seeing Koningin Beatrix's Christmas Speech. Couldn't understand a freakin' word of it but it looked pretty good though!!

Is it true she used to have about 10 palaces and sold five of them off so as to live more modestly among the Dutch people??

Honestly that's a ridiculous thing to do. Monarchs should never dispose of their majesty like that. If I were the King I'd wear a crown all the time plus those long red white-trimmed royal robes ~ as featured in innumerable children's storybooks!!
