Orange / The doors

Today we took a little drive to the city of Orange. The Romans build things there as well which made it interesting for me. Unfortunately we got there around 1PM and shops were closed until 3PM which made town a little boring for the others... We did go on a little ride up the hill above town which was fun though.

First though, we checked out the big arch that the Romans build.

The triumphal arch of Orange. Pretty cool building. Check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumphal_Arch_of_Orange.

Quite detailed building.

Oak leaves. Each one different. Hand made. Amazing. Some Roman has been carving hard...

In Orange it was a tad live-less because the shops were closed and town was empty. We went on a ride that took us through town and up the hill.

From the hill top we could see the Roman theatre.

Close-up.

We could also see Mont Ventoux in the distance.

Town of Orange.

Statue of Raimbaud II. He was a crusader from Orange and went to Palestine where he remained and died around 1121.

In the evening Simone and I went for a walk through the medieval part of Vaison, just because it's so beautiful there and I really wanted her to see it :-)

Doors can be so fascinating for some reason.

Lovely I think.

I love how the wood has caved in a bit. Still, the inside is totally straight and so is the wall so I reckon it's been like this for ages.

On this door was a photo of the door from a while ago. I don't know the exact date.

Look who's hiding! ;-)

Meditating.

Lantern.
