The warpdrive

We reached the hotel in Kuala Lumpur around 9:00 in the morning but we couldn't get into our (UPGRADED - YAY!) room untill 10:00. We couldn't do anything but wait...

Looking outside made me slowly forget the weather in The Netherlands. It's like all the buildings in this country were put right in the bush.

This cup of capuchino made me feel human again after that flight. There's bad and slightly better airplane food but it all still sucks to me.

After a 4 hour nap in our hotelroom we hit the KLCC Suria shopping mall hunting for an ATM and a supermarket. We are now stocked with water and a few snackies, we have the internet so I guess we'll get by *grin*.

The KLCC Suria shopping mall is about 5 stories high.

The KLCC Suria shopping mall sports an elevator shaft that looks like a warpdrive that makes the one from Startrek looks like a peanut.

A view outside, close to our hotel.

The base of our hotel; the Mandarin Oriental.

The top of our hotel.

The famous Petronas towers in broad daylight.

The famous Petronas towers at night. It's purrrrrrrrdy.

Nic in our bed.

The remote control comes in a fancy, green, leather case.

After they make your room, this is what you find next to your bed.

No chocolates on the pillow? Tsk, tsk...

@ Ilse: You'd love this mall probably. 5 floors with lots of different shops.

@ Kees: No chocolate but bottles of water instead and chinese pears and great service and an even greater view. No complaints about this place!

I'll check your blog often !

@ Sanne: You know you wanna leave as well, you feel it every day when yer stuck in a traffic jam, when you receive shit-service, when the girl at the AH check-out doesn't even look at you like you don't exist. Why don't you take the blue pill and find out how deep the rabbithole goes? ;-)

Hi Vincent,

You have WAY TOO much time on your hands!

Great to see you both living it up in Malaysia. It's a fantastic place. Try not to use your credit card though, as even the bank tellers there are likely to steal your card numbers!

The weather in Adelaide on the day of your arrival will be a lovely 26 degrees (fine and sunny).

Friends can envy your time in the sun via a multitude of webcams, but my favourite is this one, which is right across the road from my house.

See you in a few days time!

Steve

P.S. You'll be happy to know that a 24-hour bakery has just opened across the road from Finn McCools pub (the Norwood Hotel). :-)

@ Jan: We have SO much time on our hands you wouldn't believe it. I think for people with jobs it must be just as understandable as the size of the universe ;-P

@ The G: Yes. You will have to always leave a comment on Nic's blog AND mine otherwise you love one of us more than the other ;-)

It's starting to feel like an adventure finally now that all the house-sell-shit and packing and preparing is behind us. Today for the first time in a long while I felt relaxed and withough any obligations to think about.

And I recommend this hotel greatly to anyone making a stopover in KL. Today they gave us new fruit coz we finished the chinese pears. Now we have something like lychee's.

You should start saving up and drop by us once and also hafe 3-4 days in KL, it's so recommendable!

@ Munchie: oooohyeah! 26C yummmmmm.

The fact that they open up a new 24h bakery especially for me is SO heartwarming :-)

Just to make you feel a lot better, there is a fierce storm brewing up for the next few days over here. That will get rid of the few last remaining leaves on the trees.

Oh noes! That's the start of 7 months of leafless trees, rain, grey skies, wind, more wind, more rain, storms, cold, possibly snow that doesn't stay and just general ugglyness. I feel for you guys...
