I bought new bigger capacitors and replaced the ones I had before in my reverse loop controller. I did about 10 test runs and it showed no signs of improper functioning so I guess this design is final.

@ Gled: A capacitor is an electronic component that allows AC to pass through but blocks DC. The electrolytic type (what I'm using) can also be used to store energy. More info hereThe loop controller is for my model train, to prevent an electric shortcut. Sorry, I'm not going to the moon :-)
